Similar to many things we're debating here, my claim can truly only apply to those that share a certain range of widely preferred traits. I could make a separate post about this, but I'd also say that these traits are not something preferred by an individual, but rather something near unanimously "valued". Unfortunately this doesn't tend to be attributes of substance, but rather something easy to observe. As the male equivalent, this guy I know seemed to kill it on Tinder, Bumble, etc. He's as boring as a rock, but a combination of being white, 6'3, and working in some high finance job really 'ticks all the boxes.'
So, in fairness, this can apply to dudes too. I'd just say the nature of attraction is way different, and more easy.
Basically, what I am trying to get at is that women are much more fickle in dating, simply because they have the option to do so.
- In my experience, a guy basically has to be the entertainer on a date. Often, to try to be entertaining, guy will talk too much. Or, they will be totally dull to not act 'weird' or too comfortable or whatever. Either way, the fact that they have to 'win over' the counterpart already puts them at a disadvantage
-Guys get penalized way harder for social standing measures. I'm a dude with a really good job compared to most peers, but I've been living at home for the first year following college grad. Girls who do live on their own seem to be very unwilling to date a guy in my situation. But I don't think the inverse would be remotely salient. The same goes for education level, I know many girls who are either in low earning potential career or have outright dropped out, and it doesn't seem to hurt their prospects
-Women can be much less committed, simply because there's more choice. Again, some minor quirk on a date or texting is more likely to set them off. This is purely because there's more people lining up. If you have few options, you're less easy to set off. The same goes for women unwilling to change their opinion on a guy they 'only see as a friend' - if the guy is everything desired in a partner, and they don't go with it, I'd say it's circumstance of simply having a lot of substitutes available
-Most of all, the benchmarks set work against young guys. 1) Women will likely set the standard at guys who showed them interest, but were not relationship interested. Therefore, they think that's their true level, when it's really below that. 2) For many women, their peak is in early 20s. Therefore, they look at the past and that sets their expectation for how hot and socially valuable they are, without realizing that it is quickly fleeting.
I feel like the best argument against this is simply that these women have higher value than the guy in question in every story. Which would probably be true. I guess this is mainly an argument about how a 6 or 7 guy has it way worse than a 6 or 7 girl. Everyone above has it good, and almost everyone below has it rough. From a personal perspective, I feel like the best option might be to date undervalued girls who don't really fit in this mould.
What do y'all think?
