It depends. Cute can mean attractive, or cute can mean like a puppy.

Adorable is always like a puppy.

I don't really like being equated with a puppy, but it's somewhat endearing and is fine if it's like minimally said compared to more strong or masculine praise.

Yup. Once a girl I knew irl but we used to be text buddies called me cute, which kind of pissed me off and I told her that it did and immediately wrote her off. She drew a picture of me and send it to me on my birthday (she was a weirdo introverted anime artist girl kind of girl) so I told her it looked bad as payback.

Another time a woman came up to me and took a hold of my ID card and told me I looked really cute, I didn't know how to respond so I just shook my head. Another time this same chick just blurted out heyyy handsomee in front of everyone, I didn't know what to do so I just looked at her and walked away. When I looked at her she was kind of smiling which pissed me off.

Other times it was usually other people that I wasn't gaming that called me cute which I didn't mind but if someone I like calls me cute I get angry.

Actually the girl in the 2nd case was way more cuter than the 1st. Also, I felt really bad for saying her drawing was bad so I apologized after a few months but she didn't accept it. The second girl I got close with but we broke everything off after we had a fight whwn I made a huge scene and we cussed each other in public. Yep. Good times. (I don't keep in touch with either of them atm)
