Long story short my inner Hitler and I have been trying to avoid banning him so he could work on his anger. But I'm not going to let him insult half the people that post there. That is our community standard and he's welcome to post as long as he leaves the attacks out. Which I've told him.

He's still not banned by the way. (Context matters.)

Someone was mean to you on reddit. Or at least you think someone was mean to you on reddit. But it wasn't here. It was in another community with its own rules and stuff. But you'd like to share it here where we mostly don't know or give two shits about how that other community works. Also, inner Hitler and deeply painfilled men.

She didn't lose anything, she threw something away. Big difference, IMO.

I honestly don't see the problem with that. Saying that OP's wife "didn't lose something but threw it away" probably describes her take on it best, not necessarily that of the commenter.
