As to why yo_asshole does so badly.... Given your example, I'm not surprised she didn't come back. People told they sicken and disgust you generally don't. There are ways of being an asshole that are attractive (for reference see asshole behaviour displayed by yo_gentlemanly) and there is asshole behaviour that makes you just, well, an asshole.

Being an asshole only works if you're projecting a higher social status than the woman. It's the status that makes her attracted to you, because being an asshole and projecting that status suggests you're indifferent to her and have other options. You don't need her. If you're an asshole but fail to convey a higher status while doing so you'll get nowhere.

You're fundamentally misunderstanding the point of being a douchebag. The point isn't to be an asshole for the sake of being an asshole, it's to show the girl that you have higher value than her. So when you say:

But when you don't return her texts, that's an asshole move which also shows that you're a busy man who doesn't have the time to text incessantly.

When you refuse to buy her drinks at the club like all the other guys, that's an asshole move which also shows you're not thirsty and able to maintain your composure without melting for a pretty girl.

When you plate her but don't offer commitment, that's an asshole move which also shows you're unwilling to commit because you're considering other plates, and also have a kickass life that doesn't need a ring to complete it.

These behaviors are asshole-ish, but the assholery isn't an end in itself. It's a means to an end.

Yelling at a woman and screaming that she's a disgusting slut is not a means to any end. That's why its not getting the results you want.

The concept of an asshole is a man who does what is best for him first. It does not mean expressing rude comments towards others. An asshole knows what he wants, isn't afraid to be bold about it, and doesn't give anything in return he doesn't want to.

In the example you gave, you technically did just that. You did what you wanted, which is to tell this girl she is gross.
