I am, for once, going to be on the other side of the fence on this. I think TRP is nearly dead on on this point, and that it doesn't get talked about enough elsewhere. Oneitis, or as most of us know it, infatuation, is a serious romantic pitfall (unlike TRP, I'll say for men and women). I think it's a product of fear. Why put yourself out there and face anxiety and risk rejection when you can just pin all your hopes on one comfortable friend? I saw this TRP post on TBP and it confirmed a suspicion a lot of us probably had: many TRPers got there because they were burned by an unreciprocated infatuation. So I agree with TRP: infatuation and obsession are a things you should avoid, and not enough people are taught that. What's your take on "Oneitis"? I'd especially like to hear from non-TRPers if I got something wrong, if there is a problem with this piece of TRP ideology.
