Hi ladies! You’re the only sub I trust to lead me in the right direction. Also, I’m on mobile so please forgive any formatting issues. I have a few questions.

I (25 F) will be going to the Netherlands to spend Christmas and NYE with my boyfriend (25 M) and his family. Background: we’ve been dating for almost a year. He and I have a pretty heavy focus on traditional gender roles. He’s perfect, I love him. I am, however, meeting his family for the first-ish time (grandmas, dad, stepmom) I’ve met SIL and brother already. So I have a few questions. I’ll be staying with his SIL and brother, and SIL is expecting a child- due sometime in January.

1) How can I best offer help/myself to them as thanks for letting me stay there?

I was thinking deep cleaning the apartment + dinner every night. Would that be stepping on any toes or would the help be welcome? I was also thinking of checking in with her and seeing what she’d like done.

2) what would be an appropriate gift for their baby?

They won’t know the sex until he/she is there. I was thinking gender neutral onesies + maybe a toy.

3) Are there any Dutch traditions/cultural differences i should be aware of in regards to gift giving + helping clean? I want to be as respectful as I can without presuming.

I know this is a lot. Thank you for reading, and any advice you have!
