EDIT/SOLVED/TIL: I was wrong. Yes, you've heard me right, no -s, I am sincerely stating in here that I was in the wrong.

All along I thought that FWB, as in Friends With Benefits meant:

• 2
• Friends
• being, you know, Friends
• and ALSO, fucking with one another.

I have had my fair share of FWB type of things, and only 2 were as described above, you know, just 2 friends who, besides being friends, are also fucking with one another.

Well I have learned that FWB interactions are quite different, and they are either:

1. People start fucking with the hope that eventually it would become something more like a relationship (then marriage, kids, house in the suburbs etc....)
2. People just fucking around with multiple Friends just for the sake of fucking; so really just hooking up but mostly with repeat people in lieu of constantly searching for strange
3. Combination of 1 & 2 above.

I should have known better since aside from my 2 what-I-considered true FWB, all my other FWB interactions fell under the #1 category, and - probably - unbeknown to me, under the #2 / #3 categories above.

Inspired by a prior post

From my own personal experience, FWB/FB arrangements are short-lived, eventually she'll want "more", like a legit relationship, and if the guy doesn't go for it, she'd rather end the arrangement.

And that has been confirmed by Reddit (posting, commenting, reading) a lot of people view FB/FWB (and hooking up too) as a natural way to start a relationship, so the woman changing her mind from the initial arrangement is "normal" the guy not wanting a relationship is a jerk.
