I found this post interesting and immediately thought of a post from a few weeks back by u/lawyercatgirl: May Every Woman Find Her Marty Ginsberg

Part of what draws me to RP is not some tradcon domestic bliss fantasy (and it certainly isn't the "TRP" misogyny) but rather my appreciation for an approach to relationships that tries to disconnect from the status quo and make truly neutral observations based on what works. In that sense, RP from a woman's perspective would mean looking at this hyper-successful couple and trying to find, without vision-clouding cultural bias, what made this couple work. Because clearly they did. It's a great story and certainly an interesting case study of one relationship dynamic that worked well to what appears to be the benefit of both partners.

Although it is the marriage that is the focal point of this posts discussion, there is an underlying sense of respect and admiration for Ruth Bader Ginsberg who inspired a man enough that he was willing to break the mold of traditional male gender roles and support her career.

Amy Coney Barrett may well have a similar dynamic in her marriage, in spite of the male head of house philosophy that pervades her faith. I cannot see how she can have seven children and rise to the level in her career that she has without a great deal of support and sacrifice from her husband.

So I find that one RP similarity between these two women who are polar opposites in the political spectrum is the fact that they were both driven, intelligent women who inspired their men to let then have their place in the spotlight.

I would also like to point out that yes Amy Coney Barrett is a stylish, poised and confident woman who deserves to be admired for her trim figure after five children and her sense of fashion, but Ruth Bader Ginsberg is a fashion icon because of her original propensity for large collars and her chunky jewelry.

I hope that after she serves her time on the bench that Amy Coney Barrett achieves the respect that Ruth Bader Ginsberg has earned. She can be as feminine and attractive as they come but it won’t mean much if she does not do a good job. Time will tell.

Beyond what has been said already about ACB's achievements, style, and beautiful family, I think we should all recognize the tremendous generosity and kindness she embodies too.

If you haven't seen this part of the testimony where a former blind student of hers explains how ACB took it upon herself to ensure that she had access to the technology she needed to succeed at Notre Dame law, it will melt your heart. ❤️

While I don’t agree with her politically at all and I’m not so happy with the timing of her nomination into the Supreme Court, I find it refreshing to see a feminine wife and mother be able to balance family and wifehood with such a respectable career. I also agree that she looks great and I hate that people are picking on her for dressing “unprofessionally” even though a lot of her outfits are similar in color and cut to what Hillary Clinton wore during her presidential campaigns in 2012 and 2016.

I really respect ACB. What everyone else as said is true, in that she is clearly very successful while being very feminine. I think women should watch her speak and notice what they find compelling about her, and try and adapt those elements to their life.

However, I think women having her as a role model is somewhat dangerous, in the same way that physicists having Albert Einstein as a role model is somewhat dangerous. Their lives are ideals, but probably not attainable for most people. Most physicists aren't Albert Einstein, and will never have a breakthrough in the way that he did. It would be unreasonable for scientists to expect themselves to perform to the degree that Albert Einstein did. In the same way, I don't think every woman can be like ACB.

I think most women would burn themselves out trying to have seven kids and be at the top of their fields. Furthermore, ACB likely made sacrifices many women would be unhappy making. I think the appropriate response to ACB is to notice what she does that is worth emulating. However, I'm tired of successful women being used as proof that women should try to "have it all." I think a lot of women have trouble juggling home and work, and are happier when they commit themselves to the home. You should do what's best for you, not try to chase what is best for another woman.

I hadn’t really looked into it until your post, but I totally agree. She’s got great style, clearly takes care of herself, has a beautiful family... she reminds me of the valedictorian of my high school, who was just an all around accomplished person.

As a man, I greatly admire ACB. I think you’d be right in viewing her as an excellent feminine role model.
