You have no excuse for being a fat piece of shit.
[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I am a fat piece of shit. The first step was acknowledging that. The second step was working out a diet. Third step, gym.
It has worked wonders. I am still not where I want to be, but the key is consistency and discipline. So long as those are keyed in, I see good things ahead.
The best day will be when I can say I was a formerly fat piece of shit.
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Keep at it man.
Not only is it crucial for game and self esteem but you will feel better and live longer.
[–]mrpinecone126 points 11 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Right on bro. I went from 360lbs to 240lbs @ 6'6 in a year. When people ask me how I did it I told them I just stopped being fat piece of shit in my head and my body is busy following.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, but you really should get a proper diet, that shit is really important, since I started taking soylent I've never felt better, likely due to my low fiber(read high meat) diet.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Soylent
It's people!
But seriously, yeah, diet is important. Just get enough fibre, haemorrhoids aren't fun.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I was 100% soylent for three months. Loved it.
Had to stop because it didn't fit into my new workout/diet needs (800 calorie deficit diet with high protein).
[–]rpscrote 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
soylent is dramatically lacking in protein if you lift
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I drink it with milk anywhere from 500 to 1500 ml I switch with water as appropriate.
[–]rpscrote 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
that's still not gonna be enough my man if you want to keep the gain train rolling. You should be getting 1.1-1.2g protein per lb of bodyweight if you're cutting, and at least 1.0g protein per lb of bodyweight if you're bulking or maintaining.
If you're overweight calculate it based off of your lean body mass instead of total bodyweight - 1.5g per lb of LBM.

Maintaining a healthy diet full of vegetables, lean meats, and quality complex carbohydrates has the same effect on the mind that lifting heavy does.
Fuck that bullshit.
Carbs are evil.
Fats are awesome.
These men are Masai warriors. Their diet consists of meat, organ meat, cow blood and fermented milk. Complex carbohydrates? 0.
They're not just ripped, they're also a few inches taller than neighboring sedentary peoples who do consume carbs.
Low carb, high fat induces ketosis which is neuroprotective. It was historically used to treat epilepsy, and is still used to treat drug-resistant cases. It protects from and reverses type 2 diabetes (and is also likely to protect from Alzheimer's, aka type 3 diabetes). It appears to reduce acid reflux, though AFAIK that has not been studied.
It also protects your teeth. Carbs, esp. grain, eat your teeth. Grain culture coïncides with a dramatic increase in cavities in the archaeological record.
Last but not least, fat and cholesterol are essential to testosterone production.

I always wondered why we're told we need the food pyramid while animals at least twice our size like lions, tigers, and bears eat strictly meat and are perfectly fine.
[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well felines are obligate carnivores, they can only eat very small amounts of non-animal food before having problems. Bears can eat significant amounts of vegetal matter, but with the exception of pandas which eat only bamboo shoots, they definitely need large amounts of meat as well.
A common vegan argument is that our closest relatives the apes are almost entirely vegetarians. Chimps and bonobos are our closest relatives and they actually eat some meat (small monkeys usually) and quite a bit of insects, termites and ants for instance which they fish with sticks. But most of their energy comes from plants alright. Gorillas eat almost only leaves, and Orangoutans eat mostly fruits. Gibbons eat fruits, insects and eggs.
But here's the thing; there's one major difference in our digestive systems with our cousins. Their colon, where tough plant matter is fermented by commensal bacterias, is twice as long as their small intestine, where readily available nutrients (fats, protides and simple carbs) are absorbed directly.
In humans, it's the reverse. Our small intestine is twice as long as our large intestine. When we eat too much fermentable food, we get gas and the runs. We are optimized for easily absorbed food.
Also note that fermentation in the colon does not just break down complex carbs into monosaccharides. It actually turns much of it into short chain fatty acid. And that is why we need to eat fat, because we don't make much of it in our gut like cows or gorillas do.

Sir, I am intrigued and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
[–]hamsterbator 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And giraffes eat only leaves and yet they are perfectly fine...
we are omnivores. We can theorize all we want but there are no long term randomized controlled trials to suggest what the best diet is. Given the explosion of obesity and diabetes in the last 3 decades however I would have to say Hi carb low fat has been an abject failure for most of society.
[–]leredditaccounts 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Carbs are great. Studies have shown those with little carb intake have higher markers of stress and inflammation, things which basically cause every health ill.
And glycogen is really needed. Eat dem high quality carbs.

quality complex carbohydrates
As a Keto man, I always laugh when I hear this...
[+]FaustoRMD -6 points-5 points-4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
And here we go with the keto nonsense once again. Can you explain to me, sir, why amylasa is the most abundant enzyme in raw milk? If we are supposed to eat a diet without complex carbs this doesn't make any sense.
[–]TomDemian11 points 11 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Why don't you fucking make your own argument instead of making people Google stuff you already seem to know?

Bland veggies and tuna? People who eat like that can't cook.

tuna
Gotta hit those Hg macros.
I only eat smaller, fatty fishes at the bottom of the food chain: mackerel, sardines, anchovies and herring.

Bla bla bla, you've got no excuse to be ________!
Fucking shit like that gets me on the barricades. Of yourse you can be ________ if you want to!
You can be a fucking rocket engineer, if you want to. Are you? Well it's your fault you are not! You could be a fucking rock star! Aren't you? Well, it's your fault you are not!
That's the most pathetic advice you could ever give to a person. "Be something you are not!"
Shit like that ain't constructive. It's just stroking your own dick about how much better you believe you are than all the rest, while you are not.
Nothing to gain for either the ones you are insulting nor (much more importantly) for you.
BTW: Green beans? Srsly?

posts expressing a self-evident message ("eating healthy is better for you"/"having discipline is good") as if they were red-pill revelations are fucking annoying, and there are so many of them.

Even worse are the guys trying to repackage basic TRP concepts to get internet points and validation.
Yes, I know AWALT. It's a basic principle, not some high-faluting conceptual thinking.
[–]mrmeyhemn 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
fucking pussy, i eat my green beans straight out of my garden. working in my garden is extra exercise. i fucks with hoes every day.
[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup, put down the fork and go work out fatty. No you can't have 2 for 1 travel on airlines, no matter how much you want a second meal and an extra seat for the right cheek.

In my mind, the distinction is eating "clean". Less processed foods, fewer ingredients, avoiding frozen/canned/fast foods.
Eating a pan full of beef and veggies you cooked yourself vs. eating a quarter pounder with cheese? I feel much better with the former, and like ass with the latter.
[–]alreadyredschool 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I eat like a fat pig, I am lean and athletic, I don't see the problem.

Yeah you shouldn't eat shitty foods or be fat but if you act like that guy in your video I guarantee you won't have any friends, lol.
[–]1jimjackjoe 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
a bud of mine qualified for weightlifting nationals, and he swears by ben and jerries. pint-a-day minimum, plus whatever else he wants to eat. he's a bit fat, yeah, but the best powerlifters are fatties. for him, it takes discipline to consciously know he's eating in ways that are preposterous, but to do it anyway for the sake of gains and competition.
[–]TunedtoPerfection 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yes but the top 20% of women are not attracted to the powerlifter body type/look. They want the shredded guy look, women really could give a fuck all how much your can bench or squat. Just as long as you can LOOK like you can bench or squat "a lot teehee"
[–]1jimjackjoe 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
women being attracted to you doesn't win you weight lifting competitions. his goal is to win weight lifting competitions.
[–]TunedtoPerfection 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yes I totally agree with you. But, since the goal of this sub and it's discussions is to discuss sexual strategy as it pertains to men and women. The fact that powerlifters eat whatever the fuck they want and continue to be the best at their sport has nothing to do with the sexual strategy of men and women.
In the context of what this sub is about, women want a man that LOOKS like he can lift what the best powerlifters in the world actually do.
Veggies fill you up and makes you feel great afterwards.
Win-Win.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
"Quality complex carbohydrates"- Because essential carbohydrates don't exist.
video on point.
to me, eating green beans and "boring foods"? that's not even a trade off, cause if I fill up on useless carbs my body feels like shit anyway.

You have no excuse for being a fucktard by uploading a video to Youtube in portrait format.
[–]yizolo 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Eating junk makes you feel good in the moment. Eating well and lifting makes you feel good all the time. For me it's that simple.
Kate Moss once said,"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." What she meant was that nothing tastes as good as high SMV feels.
Anyone have any suggestions on quick-easy, and somewhere tasty veggies to-go cooking tips?
Im have the meat and protein cooking down, but dont know how to incorporate veggies, other than fucking corn, very well.
Any help/suggestions?
[–]colucci 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There's no excuse to eating with your mouth open or speaking while eating.
This guy pisses me off.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Hope this isn't unrelated
I cannot, for my life, understand how a man or a woman can eat so much and do nothing so much that they can gain in excess of 500 kilos?? (1000 pounds for you Western dudes).
How does a human being get so big?
Is that the natural state of man?
Is being that big attractive to the correspondent sex?
Is it just an American phenomenon? (Remember, there was an over-obese Saudi dude)
TL:DR; i guess what i'm trying to say is, how the fuck do you get so big?
[–][deleted] 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
[permanently deleted]
Agreed. I remember when I was maybe 18 or 19 and I weighed myself randomly and found out I was 190lbs. I was completely shocked and disgusted and decided right then and there I had to do something about it.
I don't know how the fuck you get to 250+ and are just like "yeah, this is okay."
Why does one person accumulate fat while another doesn't? Duh, it's because they eat a surplus of calories. But why does one person eat a surplus of calories? They are simply hungrier. It's not an impulse control thing or any other type of character flaw. Why would one person be hungrier? Because their hormone levels get fucked up because of they type of food they choose to eat. Some people are more affected than others with poor food choices.
To put it another way; if you take 2 groups of gorillas in captivity and give one group unlimited access to the types of food they would eat in the wild and the other unlimited access to Purina Gorilla Chow (a real product BTW). The first group, without lifting, without jogging 5x/week, with counting calories, will not get fat. The second group will have a portion get fat and die prematurely of heart disease.
There is a debate on what the right type of food is for humans. Personally I don't think there is one optimal way for every human to eat; societies all across the world and time have eating a massive variety of diets. But for someone who is a fat piece of shit, the fastest, easiest way to become not a fat piece of shit is probably with a ketogenic diet.
Most of those seriously fat fuckers have people bringing them buckets of KFC and shit to their beds that they do not leave.
I saw a documentary on beached whales once and the 800 pound guy ended up getting sick (shocker, right?) and to transport him to the hospital they had to knock out a wall in his house and use a fork lift with like a cow lifting swing on it.
Got him to the hospital and found a tumor the size of a fucking watermellon in his guts.
There has to be some sort of thing fucked up in your brain to get that fat.
[+]circlhat -33 points-32 points-31 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Ahh toxic masculinity at is finest , there is much debate over diet, personally I believe any meat is pointless since veggies are 10x better and healthier (Scientific fact, don't make me pull out studies). And high carb low fat, low protein diet is best for body building
Carbs > Protein > Fat
But hey lets turn this into a diet sub.
