They forget that there are three acts to a tragedy, and they are caught up in act one, and not soberly preparing for act three.

Act one: men are trash, incels.

Act two: (men get jaded and go their own way, use escorts, bots in a few years, etc)

I can guess what comment prompted this PM. And if it's the one I'm thinking of, the label of "mentally ill" was certainly warranted.

Maybe this chick that PMed you was set off by that term. But even worse, instead it could be that she thought that "mental anguish" or "experiences" were some sort of normal and didn't like you making fun of it. Holy crap. Imagine being so miserable/angry/unstable that you think there's nothing wrong/unusual about using twitter to try and cope with your barely concealed hapless rage.

For example, I myself have suffered from mental illness for years in the form of an anxiety disorder. It wasn't until I was on proper medication for it that I could look back and appreciate how anxious I was. But back then I thought it was "normal". Now that I'm better it's easy to see that such an unwarranted level of anxiety was not normal and constituted a mental illness.

The reason for bringing up that personal anecdote is to show how that chick you were mocking is in fact mentally ill. This PMer, to try and support her as having "experiences" common to women, is to inadvertently display how awful her own existence must seem by claiming there's nothing delusional or messed up about the Twitter ranter.

In other words, "normal" people don't think that being so deeply unhappy is normal. But to an extremely unhappy person, that level of unhappiness is just part of life. lol. Please don't ever descend to that point, my dudes.

Oh I've gotten DM's from that person too, they are just trying to feed their ego. One of the few people I've added to my block list because I can tell they are not interacting in good faith. Below is my response to a message from them to me whining about how harsh we are on women that have a history of bad decision making and an accusation that it makes us hypocrites when we make less than flattering observations about how shitty feminists are to men:

A philosophical question for you to chew on if you are actually trying to understand the harshness here: Why is it not hypocritical to use force to defend ones self from violence?

Make no mistake, the women that find themselves in "abusive" relationships were not forced into them at gunpoint. Information abounds in our society about the perfidious nature of "bad boys" and it socially acceptable to point it out ad infinitum. The reverse is not nearly so true. Those women chose to ignore the warning signs and reaped the reward. And those of us men that would and often did warn them of their incipient error in their choice of men are under no obligation to treat them with pity or compassion for the choices they made of their own free will. Especially when those same women turn around and expect, nay, demand that the men they disregarded or otherwise socially abused in their youth to fall on their swords to help clean up the mess they made of themselves later in life.

But given I doubt you are asking any of this in good faith due to the implicit assumption in your query, and are just looking to inflate your ego with "gotcha" questions like so many others, welcome to the block list.

The definition of mental illness is actually quite simple. It is not about dismissing the experience. It is about dismissing the conclusions from an experience, especially when the resulting behavior is one of hypocrisy.

Generally, a psychological process goes something like this: Something happens. You notice it. You think something about it. The thoughts give rise to feelings. This in turn gives rise to behavior.

The mental illness happens when you think something that is not correct (i.e. not an accurate reflection of "reality"). For example, I once told a woman I used to know that there were a lot of unhealthily fat people when I went to the city. It was a harmless remark in my opinion. It was based in truth. Where I live there were very few fat people. Her reaction was anger. I ignored her for a while. Then after some hours she told me it hurt her because she felt often that people dismissed her because of her looks (she was a fit woman, I would say 7.5 out of 10) in her late 20s. The mental illness here is her complete lack of a realistic self-image. It causes her to have doubts about herself and act accordingly; She pushed people away and could never have a stable relationship.

Anyways. I will not brush of the pain of women, but I will contend that a lot of women have a twisted view on reality, mostly due to entitlement. Perhaps this is hard-wired in their biology. Perhaps it is due to social media or other cultural effects. Or both. Whatever the case may be, this is toxic femininity that is never talked about and that causes men great suffering.
