i think the only time i have been told to man up was for using an umbrella in the rain, and it made me laugh because the guy saying it actually believed that he was more manly because he didnt use an umbrella (i was in a suit he wasn't).

Nothing is more pathetic than actually believing you are manly because "You dont use an umbrella", if anything that is a sure sign you are a pathetic and think its some noteworthy achievement of some kind.

If a 30-something year old woman tells you to "Man up" and start providing, because that is what it's attractive and good for the family, you should tell her to "Woman up" and become an early twenties, childless tattoo-free emotionally undamaged girl who is a virgin or has had at most one previous partner before you, because statistically proven, that is what is most attractive and best for the upbringing of a family and a long term, successful marriage.

I've said it to other (unenlightened) dudes. "Man up, Nancy boy." But that was just trying to kick them out of their entitled upbringing.

The first rule of Fight Club is "Don't talk about Fight Club." I get that, and I agree with it. But I also believe that we must act as positive role models for the kids coming up, whether they're our kids, Boy Scouts, co-workers, or whatever. Many of them haven't heard (or seen) lessons for standing on their own 2 feet and taking bad experiences in stride.

Now "man up" is usually about dating some land whale for the benefit of that landwhale. It's no longer about doing something "masculine", but doing something "blue simp" -- like being a cuck. I wonder how men can reclaim this saying. Perhaps, when people say, "man up". I can reply, "I have no issues manning up, but what you want me to do is be a simp". I wonder if that will work.
