I'm not sure how old you are, but from the perspective of a 28 year old let me give you some wisdom.

You only have one life to live, and it is yours. You are the one who feels the consequences of not doing what makes you happy - no-one else.

Personally I never let anyone stop me from living my life the way I wanted to even if my parents disapproved of my choices or other classmates thought I was weird, and I don't regret it one bit.

Being authentically who I am drew in people who accepted me for me. As a result I have a great friend circle and all of my relationships have been with partners who love me truly, flaws and all.

I dropped out of University out of a really hard to get into prestigious program to study art because it made me happier. I now have a fulfilling career as a game designer doing what I love.

I moved out on my own once I got my first full-time job because I was tired of being sheltered and controlled by my traditional asian mom. She didn't like that I didn't want to get my University degree and still doesn't see what I do as a valid career, but she would've still wanted me to live at home until I was married. I have never been happier to be able to live the way I want to, travel, and explore all the wonderful things life has to offer as I want to without her constant criticism.

If I'd lived my life for anyone but me, I would have continued studying and subsequently got a job working in a field that doesn't interest me. I would still be living at home because I'm not married yet with my mom who constantly destroys my self-esteem and gives me anxiety. I wouldn't even be dating my current bf because he doesn't come from a rich family and my mom sees him as "beneath our level".

But instead I currently live a happy, fulfilling life with great friends and a loving bf where every day is a joy - all because I made those decisions to live true to myself and give 0 fucks about anyone who doesn't accept me.

I don't know if this would make a difference to you, but if my message and experiences can convince even one more person in this world to live true to themselves, I'll be happy.

Who they really are? In terms of what? Only sexuality? And life will be miserable if they don't embrace it? So, happiness, is judged simply from sexuality?

There're 2 conditions you need to address first before keep on spouting who you are, who you are. One is gifted condition. Another is acquired condition. What gifted is nonpermutable. What's acquired is shaped. There's clear distinction between these two.

First. If your first sentence is towards gifted condition of a person, i.e: the number of eyes, limb, blood type, height and etc, i agree to some degree. Why only some? Because people don't get to live the life they want due to restricted conditions which applies to everybody, not only in terms of sexuality. Meaning, everybody is currently leading a miserable life, since at every point in life, people will have other wants and needs and therefore are not even living life as they should. And is that right? Of course not. Who are you to dictate how people should live their life? Sometimes, people need to endure, sometimes, people need to embrace. It's not gonna be a static life as you paint it to be. So why are you associating miserable and live life as who you are knowing life is ever changing, aside to only paint it on negative views for people who saw it? I'm gonna be positive about your motives though.

Second. If your first sentence is towards acquired condition of a person, i.e: manners, educations, ethics, critical thinking skills, social skills and etc, then you are completely wrong. There's a reason they won't tolerate such thing cause they want you to improve and be a better person. That's all. You just gotta step it up or complain.

So, where does sexuality fit? Sex is gifted condition, sexuality is supposedly gifted too, but it can be nurtured, so can be acquired. And, men-women is sex. Straight gay is sexuality. So, which part of them is not embracing who they are if they are guy, but wanting to be gay. Which part of it are you talking here? If they are following acquired conditions, why is that who they are? Since it can be nurtured. Just how illogical and irrational is when people are linking original state with a variable such as making a sentences like who they are based on changing conditions. Who they are, original state. Variable, changing conditions. Do you see how illogical that is? It's like saying a fully grown normal pineapple is originally bitter because the condition is made to make the pineapple to grow that way, so that is his original condition. No. That's the acquired condition. A truly grown original taste of normal pineapple is sweet.

Just where did such nonsensical sentence of who you are based on sexuality comes from? It's sexuality based on who you are. You are going backwards.

Do you even know what's truly inside you? Isn't what inside your mind right now is mostly nurtured? If that's wrong, are you going to keep going that way? Let me give you an example. A murderer. So they should embrace themselves as murderer and keeps on doing it? Hah. So what's the difference between you and mass murderer? They are embracing who they are as well. Just where the hell did you pick up the line of embrace yourself from? Did you read it whole?

Keep repressing it. And stop thinking only about women. Moreover, stop thinking only about sexuality or relationship. Go work out, wood working, cooking, cycling, playing games, coding or anything.

Be true to yourself is a good advice. But you should know yourself first right? Just because you have that kind of feelings, doesn't mean you have to act on it. Can you differentiate right and wrong correctly? And if can't, you should seek from correct places right?

Ask yourself, is it right to act on it?

Those telling you stories of how they carve their own path and becomes happy with it because they follows their heart and not parents are so full of bullshit. They don't realize how their parents have disciplined them since child and thus, easy for them to carve their own path when going to adult phase. Keywords; role model. Have it or not wanting to be it. Role model. They have it.

Don't think from socially acceptable or unacceptable perspective. The Purge gives a perfect example of herd mentality, powered by mentally ill government. Think from whether man-woman vs man-man/woman-woman perspective. Which is correct?
