crap like "The guilt she's going to go through is probably more than enough." Those type of comments irk me because this man did absolutely nothing wrong, but paid the ultimate price and people think that she doesn't deserve much punishment than a slap on the wrist.

That sentiment makes me angry too, and no level of internalized Outcome Independence or Amused Mastery has diminished this response.

When I was younger I did many stupid things. These things could have gotten someone killed and it is a miracle they didn't. It has been 40 years and I like to think that I am a better man than I was at 16 & 17. Not only the woman.... but the prosecutors and the wife should face consequences for this.

This man is innocent, and this women is manipulative and crazy and prepared to fuck up his life for no reason except his own integrity. But she's not the only guilty party. There will always be false rape accusors. The wife and Society also failed this man, by leaving him and stealing his chidren.

Conclusion: don't just blame this horrible woman (who should do jail time), also blame his wife and society (especially the law).

Indeed, our laws say so (badly enforced as they are, given that the rich get a free pass while the poor are more likely to get slapped down for shit they didn't even do). While I agree with you, a significant reason for people to say that is probably that this is still a kid. If it were an adult woman that did this, people would probably treat her differently.
