For the foreseeable future, when it comes to long term relationships the battle has been lost for most men in the West. Women have made themselves permanently undesirable (and unsuitable) wives. In the long term we may 'win' in that women will eventually change their behaviour to adapt to our standards, but that isn't going to change the number of men that women have already slept with. So for the lifetimes of everyone currently living there'll be vastly less eligible women men wanting to marry them. Even in a scenario in which women somehow wake up tomorrow wanting to save it for marriage.

I keep hearing the authoritarian right talking about how it's really the lack of leadership from men that's making women behave this way, and that if men just showed more 'masculinity'/leadership women would follow along and naturally become wife material. But I don't hear any of those guys saying that they would marry a woman who'd done her time on the CC but embraced the old ways. So they're minimizing the responsibility on women in a way that minimizes the scale and nature of the problem.

But I need to change my thinking I guess. I won't have any children so it doesn't matter what dystopian future society is heading towards. By the time it gets there I'll be gone, and I'll have no descendants there. So it's not my problem. So although the civic structure of a good, sustainable society is an interesting intellectual sphere to explore, it's an extremely low-stakes one for me and I need to treat it that way.
