I'm a Veteran. I don't care for anyone to know I'm a veteran, except my close friends. I really don't want attention for what I did. Not that I'm not proud, not that I did anything to warrant shame... I don't know. I just got out, took off the uniform, and seldom mention it, except when I have to. I get disgusted by the attention whores, and get pissed off at myself whenever I mention it.

The DMV is a business contracted by the government. It is not a public entity. So, who do they pander to? The biggest consumers in the world....women. Great business decision on part of the DMV. Maybe with the money they can cut their ridiculous wait time. You know your wait time is too long when even the IRS is faster than you.

It'll cost them a few thousand to get into production and they'll make tens of thousands over the years in filing and billing fees.

If people want to pay that voluntary tax for the plates, then it seems OK to me.

I'm pretty certain that alterations on military force uniforms is a major job seeing how many active military I see boarding airplanes who are 40% body fat lately.

I'm not opposed to this. I honestly don't care.

I am a Vet, but I am not going to pay an extra $75 my state charges just so I can tell everyone I am a Vet around me. IMO, having that plate makes you a target for other people. It makes you stick out in a crowd.

Imagine the uproar if this was reversed for male vets.

Existing Veteran plates are mostly owned by male vets. A female vet seen driving in her civvies would likely be presumed to be the wife/daughter of the "real" vet. If she served honorably, how can you come out against these license plates?

Right now, female vets are somewhat of a vanguard. In a generation it will be so routine that the special plates won't be quite as necessary.

Its the very people who think this is controversial, that make the need for special plates.

I have one from previous service. This is different.. this states 'woman veteran'. I guess an argument could be made that since they don't serve in combat that they are less than a real vet?
