Chernobyl was supposed to be historically accurate, and yet the strong independent wamyn character was totally made up. They say it right at the end in fact. There was a team of scientists, and she was meant to embody the spirit of all of them or some crap.

Well....there is that one scene where Lawrence is captured by the Turks and his Arabic is so fluent he's mistaken for an Arab...and the Turkish officer does the old...Man Love Thursday on his ass...it's all implied but Lawrence's face after the deed pretty much tells you what happened. Lawrence gets to be the "girl" that night.
