As someone has already commented, girls play mobile games, which makes girls "gamers", and then they plaster a picture of girls with a console controller looking aggressive and competitive and say "girls do guy stuff too!". No. Girls play social network games, not mobas, shooters, or strategy games. The difference in gaming is as stark as it is in careers.

Gamer here, yes women comprise 48 percent of gamers, but like any market you have to understand the breakdown. Women predominately game on mobile and predominately play only a few genre. This is a known established fact by in depth studies, but most publishers are either woke, or think they can garner more sales by appealing to feminists. It doesn't work and right now my hobbies industry is burning itself to the ground.

In positive news the indi scene (not garbage tier, but small studies) has never been better.

I've noticed that women mostly like playing casual games and simulation games (like the sims, stardew, animal crossing, etc). They just aren't interested in competitive games in most cases.
