When I tell people now that I'm just finishing my First year of college and I'm working they look at me like I'm an alien or something. I know people who are 30 years old and still living with their parents. It's just fucking bad the way things are goind.

Why should I be in a rush to ruin my life by selling my soul to the state and cloning myself? What's in it for me? I don't believe there is anything in it for me.

What I do know is that settling down and having kids was drilled into my skull for decades by the media. Now that i have taken the red pill it is so clear in my mind that this was brainwashing. Besides Seinfeld, I can't name a single show from my childhood that showed a single man living a happy life. Every single show the dad was an aggressive, stupid, idiot. The wife was always a saint. Seeing stuff like that for years is depressing.

I see your point, you also have to realize that some people just don't have the time/money/leisure to "branch out" of your comfort zone during college. Some people just don't have such freedom. Some students work part-time and trying to get a sick job after graduation so they can be balling right afterwards. Some people are trying to study for GMAT/MCAT or other exams for grad school. Some people just want to get straight As and just kill it in life in mid 20s and late 20s. I see your point, but I honestly don't talk to anybody from my high school since they kinda became losers and the ones that I talk to have changed so much that I have no common interest with them. I have changed so much too.

I just let people flow in and out of my life and just do me and focus on myself. That's what I am doing for my 20s. I can travel and expand outside of my comfort zone and make new cool friends when I got more money and business side of my life handled. Btw, when my status increase like that, I can have "cooler" and "richer" friends and the friends that I made in college won't even really matter.

yea we live really sheltered lifestyles so we aren't forced to grow up like other generations were. we dont have food to hunt for, don't have buildings to build, we don't have wars to fight, there's no reason for the society to be adult, especially with big daddy government "taking care" of everything. most people are fat and lazy and stupid because there is no reason to do anything productive with their lifes, and the society doesn't glorify any of the true virtues of this world so the average person will just swing left because it's downstream. think about how anyone who's doing anything productive or meaningful and how they get shit on for being too uptight etc. their virtue is framed as vice, and vice is framed as virtue.

As a current college student at a large university I can attest to this. We are generally more immature and undeveloped, perhaps due to having grown up for our entire lives surrounded by the abundance of a first world country.

If you think Greek Life is the problem with this you are completely misdiagnosing the problem. College is and has always been partially about partying - if anything Greek life is more tame today than in the past.

What made college a joke was both grade inflation and the govertment handing out 50k to anyone with a pulse. So you have a completely diluted product full of idiots that have no business being in college studying absolutely worthless topics (this is where the rise of the vocal left has come from not ironically).

You are completely correct that maturity is being delayed more and more now. I assume this will only continue as college becomes a continuation of high school with post grad being the new college

I believe university has been subverted by Communist professors and Post-Modernists that pump the young full of lies regarding oppression and Patriarchy - they're teaching generation after generation that they've got a right to be offended about everything and that everyone else should care.

The campus' have become a tumour that society needs to excise.

I don't know about maturity levels or how the current crop of students differentiates from previous years - other than a lack of willingness to listen to other people, I find Left-wingers to be very childish regardless of where they're parked.

Is actually true though so far, that's what i look foreward to in college because i fucked up until now. I feel like i havent expressed my self at all and have been a caterpillar waiting to turn into butterfly man, it's actually prettty bad though, it all came from shitty confidence saying tomorrow ill be more attractive when it's not reality. i look back on my old self and i could have been pulling bitches easily, and was (they approached me a shit ton) but i had so little confidence that i made up so many rationalizations in my head as to how i could be interpreting it wrong, and how they aren't hitting on me and i fucked up so much.... i still went along with it and played people only, but it was not satisfying and only stressful.

Height weight etc did not matter, i was naturally pretty "alpha" other than my bad self image, i still didn't show weakness explicitly but i never accepted anyone's friendship or fuck any hot girls because of it, i'd just play them and basically fuck with them until they were ready to fuck or something and then deny them becuase i felt i didn't deserve it, and that it made no sense. Half the time i thought i was being subtly "bullied" but i wasn't, all because shitty ass self image.

HS would have been so much better if i wasn't actually sensitive about my height and shit back then, even though i never expressed it. wish i could have understood redpill shit better, i didn't have the wisdom though, intelligence or something. i would have understood it on a really beta pretentious level and would have become very cringe worthy.

College is a fucking scam now. I'd rather have entered the industry at 17-18 instead of being scammed.

4.5 years at college, plus 3 additional years to earn the money for it just to get a piece of paper at the age of 25. Whatever I learnt at college, I could have learnt that from books downloaded off The Pirate Bay, Youtube tutorials and the rest of the Internet, all while working in the real industry for 7 years instead of 3.

Most people who go to college aren't prepared for the working world so what does that say about our educators? They want your money more than they want you educated. Too many bullshit ( humanities) degrees out there; anybody can get one so it's the bread and butter for $$$ universities $$$. The college experience is a distraction implemented by our educators in order to extract our money whether you're a student or a taxpayer (public schools are funded by gov't).

For those who aren't STEM majors, I strongly recommend you drop out and take the time to develop a marketable skill such as welding or programming.

I often wonder if the lack of real war in recent generations played a role. Obviously, with advances in healthcare and farming, you don't see in the west the hardships that used to compel women to be married and pregnant by 15 and boys working full time to help maintain the farm. But that doesn't really capture the spoiled nature of our generations and I think the lack of war--real war--is what allows a lot of the ideology you see today to flourish.

We've always been at war in the west. We fought a war for independence, a war to maintain it, a civil war, wars of expansion against the native americans, world wars, and to a smaller extent we still had people getting drafted to korea/vietnam. The wars we have today are not real wars. We use drones and the host nation's soldiers as mercenaries. The casualty rate of the iraq war alone is 1:250 american/iraqi. A real war you need to have something at stake. Having something at stake is what makes the people back home feel a sense of camaraderie and allows them to work toward a common goal.

Without the realities and hardships of war you have time to focus on progressive/social issues. This was good in the past as it led to civil rights reform, voting rights for women...society in general has improved. But now you have a society that is beginning to get carried away with it by focusing on senseless gender issues and nonexistent racial grievances (climate change is racist! everything is racist!). It seems like the tradeoff for not living in fear is idling away in triviality. Perhaps they'll look back at this 100 years from now as a golden age where we could afford to be frivolous.

To be candid, life expectancy back then was like what, 50-60s years old. Today we increase life expectancy by 20 years, so obviously the period of being immature is gonna last longer, parents are going to encourage kids to have fun, and do the shit they couldn't do because they had responsabilities.

I absolutely agree, and can attest from my own life. I have lived for an extended period in two countries - the US and Israel. I did my Bachelor's right after high school, before volunteering to the IDF (which was important for me to do).

I was an immature fuck in university, getting average grades and wasting a lot of my time (despite studying a STEM field). Joining the army and being a bit older than my fellow soldiers (who were primarily 18-21 year olds), I could really appreciate the level of maturity that hard times instills in people. My fellow IDF soldiers were far more mature than the people I met in university, despite being in the same age bracket.

The difficulty of the service toughened my up (physically and mentally), I became an officer, and eventually proudly finished my service with distinction.

I am in my late-twenties now, and just got my first $100k job, all-the-while working on my Masters. Whenever I go to visit my friends from high school and university in the States, I am saddened to see how little they have grown, despite the fact that they are all bright and college-educated young people. Many still live at home, still frequenting the same bars / clubs we went to together, working dead-end low paying jobs, and just feeling lost.

Comfort is the enemy of personal growth.

Choices and expectations define a movement. Though we see recent generations as narcissistic and mentally underdeveloped, there's still the greater reward of being more politically active and socially adaptable.

I blame the media. Ever since the ~1980s they have focused on dramatizing and hyped up the coming of age portion of people's lives. In the 90s they showed Beverly Hills 90210 and Saved By The Bell. I think the 2000s were especially bad with programs such as Laguna Beach and The Hills. The result is many people are obsessed with the "teenage" portion of their lives. Only after turning ~25-30 and realizing that they aren't getting any younger and don't have any long-term accomplishments do a lot of people seem to have no choice but the grow up.
