Same. I ignored the warnings with my ex's mom. I warned my ex many times I wasn't going to tolerate the same treatment. Ultimately women learn to value men from their mom's and we all know how well that's been going.

I moved to Asia about 15 years ago, hasn't all been entirely smooth sailing but a vast improvement on living in the UK and hating the society around me.
Now I literally feel the opposite, with respect and affection for the SE Asian people (on the whole, with some notable exceptions). And every morning, like right now as I just got up here, a feeling of gratitude for my life.
If I'd stayed then I'd be likely to be on the news...
