I got banned on the personalfinance sub for calling a guy out who was wanting advice on cashing in his recently passed away dad retirement fund to give it to his mother. I said something like "imagine working your ass off for your whole working life for it to only go to a gold digger and you don't manage to enjoy what you had earnt". The retirement fund was like 60k.

I also got a ban from personalfinance.. There was a guy that got married and then found out his wife had $70k in student loans. I suggested he stay only if she has the means to pay it herself and split the other household bills 50/50, otherwise hit the eject button and don't be used as an ATM. There were all kinds of other comments about how they should pay it off together and it would be a bonding experience. What a fucking joke. For about the past century or so, the transfer takes place whether a productive male marries or not, or cohabitates or not. He can reduce the size of it somewhat by going MGTOW, but the state still takes 50-60% of his lifetime output, much of it redistributed to women and/or the children of single women. The State ensures that no highly productive man can opt out of being a beta provider male. And that is probably inevitable as soon as women are granted the right to vote, as AFAIK it's happened in every western democracy at least to some extent.

For big governments growing debt load of unfunded liabilities they are dependent on financial repression, thus wedded to a Keynesian model of economics. I'll keep a lookout for good data set. Feminists are always pushing this stat of 80-85% of household expenditure is controlled by women. Furthermore from my own experience from marriage & inevitably divorce... twice, this stat holds true. Considering a man's productive output in a pre welfare economy typically sustained the needs of 2 adults & a few kids, this spending with a father bearing responsibility for his family's survival could still see the lady of the house making 80% of the household expenditure decisions. Fast forward to today where in 65% of children are being raised in broken homes, with 85% of custody awarded to the female, & the typical child support cheque being 25% of the payers income for the 1st child & +15% of income for each child thereafter. Average family size in the USA has 1.9 children in it would mean the average US divorced male is paying his ex-wife 38.5% of his income in child support plus alimony. Also custodian parents recieve a litany of subsidies in the form of tax concessions, child endowments, public housing, food stamps, subsidized childcare, phone/power discounts, fuel allowances, all courtesy of the taxpayer of whom men as a group are the only net payers of, with the massive shortfall being passed onto future generations in the form of ballooning government debt. But yes, a detailed data set would be great, but curiously missing from the internet. I doubt it would be a popular move on the part of a statistics department head to collect data that paints such a stark picture perhaps.

There's a reason why stupid and/or lazy students are the ones who consider student loans a scam.
Do I think there needs to be some sort of discrimination as to who receives the loans and for what degrees? Yes, as they're almost handed out like candy by the government, which induces higher tuition costs from colleges and lower value of degrees.
The person who applied for and received the loan is still on the hook for repaying it, no matter what they did with the money. It's just like any other loan (car, home, personal) but you can't default on it. If you squander the money, that's on nobody but yourself.

Honestly I can agree with that, most people who take out loans usually take out whats way over whats needed for their tuition to pay for frivolous things, so yeah there should be discrimination against those who can take out loans, or at the very least a limit to how much they can take out. But fortunately thats something I don't really have to worry about, and if I do I'd only need roughly 5k to supplement my savings, and that would cover the other year or s I have left...

If that's why gold is valuable than aluminum should be akin to platinum in value, aluminum corrode but in such a way it actually creates a protective barrier around itself preventing further oxidation from occurring. It has more so to do with its conductive abilities, and rarity. But I'm sure that coupled with the corrosivity bits are why both aluminum and gold are heavily used in electronics.
