Philosophy can lead to a lot of different jobs, I knew a guy who owned a multi million dollar company he built from the ground up. He had a bachelors in Philosophy. Being able to think critically about things is a powerful skill.

In my honest own opinion, philosophy is like that one guy you knew that always told you ideas, but never did anything with them. Example: you work in a team of five programmers, some dude you know gives you 50 ideas, but doesn't _really_ know what to make with any of them. Hence he tells the team, "lets (more like your team) create a video game with giant dinosaurs and a team of 4 that have to find a strategical way to defend their habitat! Lets add spears, stones, and maybe some advances throughout the game". You calmly look at him, and say "yea, we really can't do that". You see what I'm saying here?

Most women wouldn't have the intellectual rigor to complete a philosophy degree at an average State U...it's not that bad a major for pre-law either. I'd hire a philo major over a major in Sociology, Psychology, History, or other liberal arts disciplines.
