It's pointless to argue with women because they can't/won't learn. They will do what's in their emotional short-term best interests regardless of logic.

By not saying "I have a boyfriend" she gets a free drink AND she maintains the option to trade up if you turn out better AND she gets plausible deniability AND she gets validation.

Nope, I think you're wrong. Why should she have to say she has a boyfriend? It's all a game, there's no "morals" in pickup. We sit here and talk about how to game and give off an appearance that will make women attracted to us by (sometimes) dishonest means. So why should women not be able to game back?

To be honest it's a dumb argument but both of you have valid points. The one way to 'win' these types of talks is by not engaging or by being very sarcastic and over the top. Call her out for using guys in a cheerful way but don't be serious or bitter about it. Play it up and say 'oh I always buy random girls drinks because I want to be their friend for the night;)' or 'I thought girls were meant to be good at reading between the lines, don't all of you pride yourself in that? Surely you know his intentions and implications of what his drink offer means or do you just like to play dumb when it benefits you?;)'

Personally though I wouldn't say anything unless I was looking to really amuse myself. These kinds of conversations can turn heated and make a mess of a night and before you know it some girl is screaming at you that you're a 120lb rat-faced weakling gollum lol, and where do you go from there? Having said that, why would any man buy a random women a drink? lol. Some people do it and have success but to me it just puts you on the back foot. It's also a way for creepy guys to do the whole 'well i bought you a drink so you have to at least chat to me for a bit and flirt with me'. I think this "argument" demonstrates nothing but unattractive qualities to a woman:

1) you sound cheap as you are trying to "save" money. It's only a $8 drink....

2) Who cares if she has a bf? This never stopped Chad

3) You are demonstrating an emotional investment in winning this argument. You have lost your calmness and coolness that women look for in a man

4) the argument is starting to create negativity. You don't want to be remembered as the guy in the group that created negative feels.

5) asking her to disclose information in the "drink buying game" means she has to somewhat control the interaction which will negatively hurt your frame. She knows this subconsciously.

The point isn't whether you are right or wrong, it's whether you have won or lost the social interaction. It's best not to argue in general with anyone in a social situation unless there is something major to be gained from the whole thing or unless it's done light heartedly or playfully. "I'm right your wrong" arguments have never got anyone laid. If you want to display your intellectual insights it's best to do so in the form of writing. Verbally arguing especially in front of a crowd just turns into a jousting battle to see who can get the upper hand.

first of all, never have arguments like this with girls.

the reason she disagreed is because she is one of those girls who likes being in that situation and manipulating guys to get free drinks. she knows exactly how it works, but she can't admit it because that implies that she is a bad person.

fwiw, there are girls who do refuse drinks from guys and tell them they have a boyfriend, etc. but it's mostly because they just don't want to deal with the guy feeling like he is entitled to her attention now. lots of guys will buy girls drinks and then won't leave them alone and follow them around like creepy stalkers.
