Keto is not entirely or even mainly about the proteins, it's about inducing the process of ketosis where your body learns to use fats instead of carbs as energy source. You can't do a half assed job at it and "reap all the benefits" of keto, not even close.
The fact that you seem uninformed about these basic facts, the forced attempt to connect this to trp and mgtow ideologies, and the blog link at the end, all scream poorly conceived marketing attempt.

This post made no actual nutritional points and instead acts like the user base are children who have no control or agency over their own lives.
Weak post if I ever saw one.

Reading through the replies it does awfully seem like the user-base consists of children though. You know, living like our ancestors is the way to go. That is why I am on Reddit and go the the supermarket.

I've been on keto for for the last 22 days. Down 23 lbs, 10kg.
I'm also doing intermittent fasting, 18/6. That really helps more than anything I've ever tried in the past. I can eat between 10am and 4pm. Any other time, its water only.
The short eating window lets me eat small portions every 2 hours. That really works.
After you are off carbs for 2 or 3 days, the urge to snack or eat crap really fades.

Intermittent fasting is perfect and a way back to live like our ancestors. Plus, you begin losing weight in no time.

I’ve been lazy keto since last May and I don’t agree with your major premise. I didn’t read the whole post, but this is the easiest diet for me to follow, once I became fat adapted.
Sweets don’t even taste that good to me anymore, which I think has been the craziest thing. Food energizes me now. I don’t feel like taking a massive nap after a large meal loaded in simple carbohydrates.
Do I think all carbs are good or evil? No. But I don’t plan to going back to a method of eating where they are a major staple of my lifestyle or diet.
[–]BigMawsmidget2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's this simple "Live and let live"
My personal opinion if you're trying to drop major weight like I am go the low-carb route or even keto, but I'm not going to keep hounding people about pros/cons.
One reason it's hard to adapt to this lifestyle is it literally cuts way to much way to fast. It's not like the redpill which is a slow digestion over time.
Prime example if you don't have friends that are following this it makes it a ton harder, and I don't know about you, but building friendships or relationships in general take time.

Been on keto since November 2016. Went from 270 lb to 198 lb. I still need to lose between 30 and 40 lb more. Used to be a jeans size 48, now I'm a size 34. My goal is to be a size 30.
From the health point of view. I used to be pre-diabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels. Now everything is normal levels and out of danger.
Keto+intermitent fasting+exercise
Those are the tools I use to keep losing weight.

People go from a diet of junk to a diet free of junk. The trick is to figure out a 3rd diet awhile you are on your diet. The 3rd diet is a sustainable diet that was not the original diet. Translation: after you lose 35 lbs in 3 months on keto, Switch to a low carb diet that includes many more veggies, and small amounts of sweet potato. Keep avoiding sugar, and carb bombs, like eating a whole pizza, or having a baked potato with your sandwich (Double dose of significant carbs). Or a baked potato followed by banana pudding (which you would have done on the first diet). If you eat a carb bomb, limit it to a half a carb bomb, and don't do other carbs with a mini carb bomb.

I have lost 35 lbs / 15. 8 Kg in the last 4 months using keto and 16:8 intermittent fasting. The sugar and carb cravings get extremely reduced in about a week.

Good for losing fat.
Shitty for gaining muscle.
[–]Polishrifle0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Disagree with this. I dropped down to about 253lbs on keto. I'm continuing to lean out, while my lean muscle mass is increasing.
You could argue that strength is lost and it was initially really bad for me. I was squatting and deadlifting well over 400lbs when I started last may, but those numbers dropped off by close to 100lbs when I started keto. I started tweaking my electrolytes, getting more sleep, and just treating my body better and those numbers were just recently surpassed.
I may toy around with a cyclic ketogenic diet in the near future. Some of the anecdotes that I've heard are pretty crazy, with people adding 50lbs on their main lifts pretty quickly once they switch.
At any rate, I feel like people should try Keto if only to accomplish two things: 1). Resetting leptin levels. 2). Teaching the body to better utilize fat as a fuel source/increasing insulin sensitivity.

you took the words right out of my mouth! great post, now excuse me while I have my 80g of oats and blueberries, which I enjoy twice a day on top of all the other carbs I eat.

Most people who do keto don't do it properly anyway.
It should be about meeting your protein goals first (otherwise you are deliberately losing muscle), and also reducing fat as your body presumably has enough of that to offer as a fuel source.
'Popular' keto which involves extreme fat intake 'works' in that you lose weight, so it's ok for the morbidly obese, but it's going to drain out your muscles with the fat which creates longer term problems and making you work harder just to get back to the muscles you started with.
Protein focussed keto is sustainable, and the occasionally maybe monthly cheat day is ok, you just have to have the resolve to get back on the train.

Keto is good short term, but you need a long term plan that includes high protein, fiber, vitamins, veggies, fruits, and low sugar.

Keto is great for losing fat, but horrible for athletic performance. Endurance athletes, powerlifters and people who do resistance training in general would not benefit in terms of performance in the gym on a keto diet. If your main goal is to lose weight, go for it. If it is to lose weight while maintain strength, endurance etc., then there are other ways to achieve the weight loss.

Keto is good for the short term and not for the long term. Constantly low insulin levels will cause a slow of metabolism through the lowering of T4 and especially T3 which will cause your metabolism to slow down. In terms of muscle/power building, since in the gym we are performing anaerobic exercises, in the long term you will get stuck as you will have a hard time to replenish your glycogen stores. I can go on and on but I think that keto is good for a few weeks or months for fat people but not for skinny or non obese/fat people. Eat carbs but don't eat sugar (except in sweets and fruits) and also eat REAL food and you will do fine. One way to recognize real food is to look at the expiration date. If it lasts long (sausages for example) it means it is fake food. As a diet guru from my country used to say "if bacteria don't want to eat it, why should you?"

What about carb loading on lifting nights? Have you read about that?
[–]tibikush20120 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
carb loading yes. Lifting nights no.
But I don't really care. I just stick to real food and I am good

Delete this post you don't know shit. Do fucking better, I'm personally tired of seeing shit like this on the fucking main subreddit literally useless bullshit that doesn't even have a strong premise.
Here's the thing about the human body.
Keto is VERY FUCKING LIKELY how humans ate prior to civilization.
Carbs turn into glucose after enough is made it becomes toxic. Fats never becomes toxic on it's own. What to argue with me? Why TF do we make fat then?
If you basically eat high fiber foods that'll be more or less eating low carb because fiber isn't digested. Carbs aren't bad but they aren't necessary in today's day and age. They're addictive, fatting, and the reason why most people are overweight in USA.
All in all go fuck yourself. Understanding what ketosis and how it affects the body allows people to not gain their weight back. Why do I say this? Because I went from 240 to 220 RIGHT THE FUCK back after "eating right" which = eating less. So again go fuck yourself and stop promoting your website here.
Imma go eat some ass now.

High carb low fat vegan is still the best (especially for resistance training)
