Around these parts, people seem to preach that being alpha is about doing whatever you want, whenever you want, regardless of what other people think. In turn, this being alpha is prescribed as being what is ultimately attractive to women. Thus, the more you do whatever you want, whenver you want, regardless of what other people think, the more attractive you become to women.

Are there any exceptions or limitations to this?

For example, what if a guy is completely self-absorbed, does his own thing without consulting anyone else ever, but then chooses to spend his time collecting Star Trek memorabilia and anime posters? By definition, his actions are alpha, but I can't see hot women seeing a Star Trek collection at his home without immediately disqualifying him. There seem to be a lot of other superficial things that are immediate disqualifies, regardless of their association with alpha behavior.

Example time: A relatively self-aware female friend of mine once told me about how she was really into this one guy for being alpha as fuck all of the time (he was in great shape, dominated social scenes, danced well, etc.)... until she visited his parents house, saw his old room, and noticed he had some benign nerdy objects from when he was in high school. He was immediately disqualified for having once owned a t-shirt that showed the planetary alignments on them. The best part is that he hadn't worn the damn thing in 10+ years! She described a feeling of having gotten to see his true nature (she almost seemed like she felt lied to or betrayed), automatically assumed that who he really was was a nerdy beta, and from then on it didn't matter how alpha he acted around her and other girls. Her mind was made.

How does this fit in with the overall Red Pill paradigm?
