This is something I have been giving some thought to lately and would like the input of this community.

I am not operating with the traditional idea of being homeless. That is, I am not suggesting I would like to be a 'bum' or 'walk the Earth'. I am thinking of engaging in a very strategic type of homelessness (to be understood as 'without a permanent residence').

I would like to retain my professional job, but live as simply as possible. The idea of 'working to live' is tiring. Even though my current monthly expenses are <$1300, that is still a lot for creature comforts. I wonder, how can I do this?

Physical health (fitness, hygiene, etc) can be met by having a gym membership. My current health insurance reimburses members up to $500/year for a 120 visits in a 365 day period. This translates into 3 days/ week for a reimbursement in 12 months or 6 days / week for reimbursement in 6 months.

Mental activities can be covered with free library access. I spend my weekends reading and writing anyways. I have a laptop and most places have wifi.

Let me proceed with my checklist:

-Laundry: Clothes kept at office, washed when needed. -Sleeping: Outside if nice, can set up shop at the office if not. -Transportation: public, walking, biking. -Food: Can buy basic stuff, but otherwise can eat out (difficulty with this, but I suppose if there are no other bills. . . ). -Mail: Set up a PO Box

May be a bit odd, but certainly not indefinite. Thinking a few years at $60k+. Maybe sign up for some BJJ classes.

Thoughts? Anyone doing something similar to this?
