Used to play World of Warcraft back in the day and my guild had a running joke about this.

There was one girl in the guild who constantly was switching from "hanging out" with one guy to the next. As one of the guys who also had a social life, I was always just dumbfounded that it would work over and over again but never gave a second though to the psychology.
