Had a similar moment of realizations. Certainly nothing this extreme, but just an indication of how different the expectations are for the respective genders in regards to rejection or the word no.

The first was during grad school. I am also no Christian Bale, but for whatever reason many of the women in my grad department ended up having a thing for me. I have never ever been interested in women until I get to know them as friends first, so I was brushing off advances whenever I saw them. This resulted in one of the girls going to her friends and complaining that I wouldn't date her, which resulted in them talking shit on me to other people in the program and defriending me on all social media platforms (which I thankfully no longer have).

The second instance was even more extreme. One of the girls I had become friendly with in school basically sexually harassed me for a year, including unwanted physical touching that extended to psychological manipulation and social threats. I had told her I wasn't interested multiple times, but she insisted on touching me constantly. When I asked her to stop she told me "you have a problem with touching and you need to see a therapist about." There was one time she was staying at my place on the couch and crawled into my bed unwanted, pushing up against me. When I told her I was uncomfortable, she cried and told me that I was insensitive and that a true man wouldn't say that. The unwanted touching continued and I kept telling her it made me uncomfortable. At this point, she started informing me that she had been telling our shared grad professors (for whom she babysat) that I was leading her on and that "they all agreed" that I was being a jerk. So, here I was, dealing with repeated physical attention from a woman I wasn't interested in, being psychologically shamed when I didn't comply and then basically being told that, by not complying, I was diminishing myself to professors who had the power to impact my grades in school. I'm sure no one thought anything of it, because I was a guy and she was a woman, but at the time I was really uncomfortable with sex in general due to having been raised in a really conservative family and wasn't in any way "casual" in my way of thinking about intimacy. It messed me up psychologically because I felt scared and guilty for not complying, and began to see her as the victim. It took me years to figure out what happened there wasn't my fault. Last week, this same girl bravely posted a #metoo about the one time a high school professor complimented her clothes. Imagine if a man had done to her what she did to me....

In my most recent relationship, the same shit happened constantly. One week, my girlfriend was training for a half marathon and canceled our plans every single day, often at the last minute. Like an idiot, I sucked it up and didn't say anything That Saturday we had plans for her to come over and I decided to surprise her with a big spaghetti dinner. Due to her unreliability, I made sure to confirm on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, I text her and ask her when I should pick her up. She responds by telling me that she has decided she should stay closer to home and then, without consulting me, asks me to drive to her place instead and gives me a list (complete with times) of things she's decided we'll do when I get there. I, having spent forty bucks on pasta, am just not having it and politely say "oh, sorry. I was planning on staying around here today per our plans. I totally understand if you don't want to come, though. I'll see you at your race tomorrow!" She immediately responded saying "if you won't come have dinner with me, I guess I'll go find someone who will" and then refused to answer my texts or calls for two days. She even texted me telling me I was forbidden from attending her race.

So, see, she could cancel every plan we had for the entirety of a week and expected no repercussions. But when she canceled AGAIN and I had the nerve to just not go dutifully along with the new plan, I didn't even deserve her attention or company and was punished with threats of her going out with another man. That's how the mind/game/world works.

In none of these situations was I even blunt or insensitive. I tried to be kind and explain myself thoroughly. Yet, these things occurred because I had the nerve to not give a woman exactly what she wanted when she wanted it.

How do you relate abortion to collateral damage? One is a woman fucking up by allowing a man to nut in her while she’s off birth control and refusing to take a day after pill. Abortions are avoidable in almost every situation. Rape is the only legitimate reason for an abortion, in my opinion.

On the other hand, collateral damage is almost always accidental and is almost unavoidable in urban warfare.

It’s comparing apples and oranges. They are both round, but the similarity stops there.

I recently read "The Myth of Male Power" In it it actually does compare abortion with military service... but the comparison being made is that it's your (the male's) body at risk in a wartime situation and NOT your choice. It also draws numerous other such parallels with dangerous civilian professions, male birth control, and countless others.

You handled this situation perfectly. Those women, and even a large majority of men, don’t understand the complexities of battle. How in one moment all is calm and in seconds the adrenaline is running at a pitch that your ears are ringing not just from the gun fire, but from your heart pumping your blood so fast and hard you start to get tunnel vision. You don’t always see correctly and your judgment is on complete protect mode. And they will never understand that unless they experience it for themselves; that will destroy their fragile minds and souls.

Don’t let her words, or anyone else’s, ever effect you. You didn’t do anything wrong. Your were fortunate to come home after having experienced horrors that most people will never have to endure.

I don't want anybody telling me what to do with my body.
So I can't pretend to tell a female what to do with her body.
So I'm in favor of females having the right to decide.
That said, I don't understand the position of those who oppose abortion but justify it in case of rape.
If abortion is wrong on account of the blob inside the womb being a human being then how can that innocent life be punished for the crime of somebody else?
