Monday morning and I knew my female co-worker had a birthday over the weekend. We've always been cool, no weird stuff. Just two people going about their day and work.

I said happy bday to her and ask if she did anything. She says no because she had to work all weekend (she works in sales for our company).

She mentioned she went for a run that she hasn't done in a while and that she was sore. She says she noticed I've taken up running and we made light talk about it.

I mentioned that I go 4-5 times a week, early morning before the sun's up or just as the sun is setting. I mentioned I like running that early and I don't know how women do it especially while it's dark due to the crazy people out.

She says she doesn't have to worry about that anymore because she's 44 and men don't even look at her anymore, and nobody would even want her.

I tried to play off it like it was non-sense, but as I went back to my office, I chuckled a bit.

It's true. This is the first time I actually heard a woman voice this concern. Wow. It's an eye opener.
