My folks had a simple life, lower middle class, lifelong jobs that they both were able to retire from. They have been blessed with a 61 year marriage, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. They delayed gratification, both striving to make the marriage, the family, and the household work. I give my mom a lot of credit for having the discipline in helping my dad make it happen. When I read a woman's post like this, I wonder if women ever think about what they can contribute to a man's life instead of just taking? Men are told "you get what you give" (it's not true for men), but maybe women need to take that advice.
