4 was certainly garbage.

They are trying to set rick up as a bad guy, make his functional alcoholism look more destructive than amusing. The vindicator team had the usual 'diversity' black guy and female, female made to be the most powerful character in the entire episode (ofc you can't have it any other way). Also involved typical drama, divorce rape, cheating and cuckoldry between said female black dude and an alien guy.

You know what, let's set aside the fact that they hired female writers to meet this whole diversity shaming thing that happened and look at it this way:

When you have a team that works really well together and gets consistent winning results and is continuing to do so, the LAST thing you want to do is change that team dynamic.

It doesn't matter who they hired to add to the writing team, if the current team worked and was kicking ass and chewing bubblegum, then it's moronic to risk breaking what works.

I'm tempted to say that it's just the writers, male/female whatever, having run out of creative juice. So they're falling back on a less frenetic, 'average' form of comedy. It's gone mainstream so they have to appeal to an audience that in general reacts badly to anything not 'normal'. It's a shame but it happens to most shows.

EDIT: So for example 'Pickle Rick'. They've been short of ideas, someone has said, 'Fuck...what if Rick became a...pickle?!', and they've run with it. Shoe-horned an entire episode out of it basically. Jaguar made me laugh but that was about it.

As for South Park, they're taking the piss out of absolutely anyone. PC Principle is satire, and Hillary being a power-hungry nut job. Having said that I do wish sometimes they could just drop the politics and make a more 'classic' season. Just the boys doing their poo jokes thing :p. Did you notice how in the current season Stan has just gone AWOL? They've made it too complex, they can't fit all their main characters into the arcs.

I gotta say... just watched the episode... and I quite liked it! Probably won't end up being my favorite episode ever, but not my worst either.

But as for all the "Lefty" inclusions in the show, I don't think the fact they are included means they are necessarily supported.

My impression watching the episode wasn't that it was supporting SJWs, but rather it was satirizing them.

Like the OP mentions with the "triggering me" statement, the character who says that dies IMMEDIATELY after saying that, looking like a coward. He is the butt of that joke.

The Vindicators (super hero team) talk about facing a very serious world ending threat, Rick ends the threat while blind drunk.

When "diversity" is brought up, Rick says "They wanted to not need me so bad, they murdered three innocent heroes of color and they STILL had to bring me back?"

His very first lesson is that none of the Vindicators are special or different. Does that really sound like an endorsement of identity politics?

I can understand and respect if didn't find it funny, or if you just didn't like it for any reason you want. You don't need to justify your taste.

But from a MGTOW reading/analysis/perspective, I might suggest giving the episode another watching, this time with the idea that its actually the SJWs who are being satirized.

My main gripe with the new season is the "Family Guy"-esque humor - contextless, meaningless chatter. It's not funny and doesn't progress the story, basically filler. The first few seasons of Family Guy were good until they introduced that as well. Not sure if it's a result of female writing, but wouldn't be surprised.

It was incredibly disingenuous for you to end that quote early. I just finished watching the episode and the full quote was "This is triggering me, I need space, I need space from these reals". I took this as a joke mocking the safe space BS. Then you also had the female character of the episode being a slut.

I am really not seeing this SJW narrative that you guys are pushing here. The first episode of the season definitely had some criticisms for the SJW BS but I am not seeing that as new episode 4. I think that a decent amount of people here are going into every episode just looking for excuses to slam the female writers.

I thought this subreddit was supposed to be full of logic and reasoning but threads on Rick and morty are filled with men acting like women and using feels before reals.

If the writing were stronger, the quips about safe space could have been funny, ironic jokes. But the jokes fell flat here, and I'm not entirely sure these lines were meant to be ironic. I had one chuckle at the end, with the twist involving the solution to Rick's game, but that was it.

I don't understand at all how people in the R&M sub are calling this episode the best ever. It resembles the story structure of early R&M, but that's it. It didn't add much to the story. The episode wasn't funny. I agree with people here who are perplexed as to how/why disagreement in the R&M sub are being downvoted. This episode wasn't very good...yet people are rabidly defending it. :/

I'm starting to watch this show today and I'm starting on season 3. It seems like an ok show, but it has preachy lines every once in a while. Was it an all out insane rollercoaster in seasons 1 and 2?

edit: I'm watching the very first episode and I'm starting to see what people mean. Rick said it's ok to shoot bureaucrats, and he killed a guy in Morty's school. He plans to start humanity over again and he promises not to sleep with morty's underage girlfriend. The show is a bit crazy.
