This is true but I find it is a hard mentallity to maintain.

I told myself "suck it the fuck up" for 18 months. Crashed and burned hard. Was in limbo for 18 months after that. Now I realise the goal isn't a thing or a place in time, the goal is a lifestyle.

So I agree with you, this is a good attitude to have, but for me it didn't last forever, I guess I was doing it so much my mind thought "what's the point of life if you're always miserable anyway" - I also achieved my goals and felt nothing inside.

Honourable life is my new goal... slow steps though.

When I'm faced with a difficult situation my mantra is "fuck it". It sounds a little odd, but it always gets me cranking. "It" being my apprehensions or doubts about the obstacle I'm facing.

Seems to work especially well when I'm busting out a k at top speed at the end of a 10k run.

Suck it the fuck up. Whatever you are doing that is tough, painful, or just plain shitty suck it up and keep going. There's no excuse for being anything but the best version of yourself and it is only mental weakness and feeling sorry for yourself that can hold you back.

Denying how one feels is a path to self-destruction. There is moving on, and that's a good idea, but bottling it in an "manning up" is self-destructive emotionally and physically. I'm not saying saying this is a bad idea, ruminating on things, self-pity, that won't help anyone. Allow your emotions to happen and pass like a breeze, then deal with life undistracted by it. Suppress it and it will poison you.

I think this is good advice and a good attitude to try cultivate, though I think one must be careful to not necessarily apply it to everything 'blindly' always - what I mean is, say you (like I did) got yourself into a marriage where there is lousy and minimal 'duty sex', I made the mistake of initially telling myself in a BluePill way 'suck it up, I guess this is what fatherhood is supposed to be like' ... what I should have done was take action and do something about it, i.e. think clearly about what I really wanted (e.g. good sex), and kick my wife out much sooner than I did if she wasn't willing to provide it ... the difference is that was not a situation where there were any rewards for me on the horizon, in all likelihood it was just going to get worse. So I guess I'm saying, don't be a martyr in the process of 'sucking it the fuck up'.

(I also think if you really feel down and like you need to dump and talk about your troubles, I think it's OK to sometimes find/have someone to dump on (that isn't one of your plates or LTRs) - whether it's a male friend or counselor or whatever ... or just telling TRP that you were e.g. struggling at around rep 14 ;) ... the reason I say this, has a purpose in mind - sometimes I feel like talking about this or that difficulty, and I think if you don't have some outlet (at least I find I do this), you may start telling the women in your life, and telling them you're struggling isn't a turn-on for women.)

It's a good mentality to have though willpower is finite and so limited. You can't brute force your way trough everything. It is however a good habit to build. Good post.

You just have to be aware of the difference between making excuses and being in denial of your own pain and weaknesses.

I spent many years with that attitude and eventually I burnt out. Reality has a way of knocking you on your ass regardless of what you think, and no amount of "Suck it the Fuck Up" is going to help you.

Don't make excuses, don't give up the instant things get hard, but also take care of yourself and be kind to yourself, you aren't superhuman and you do have limits no matter how much you wish otherwise.

Fuck yeah dude. This is what I've been telling myself lately. It's so important to keep this mentality on the road to becoming the best version of yourself. The more shit you suck up the more powerful you become as long as you can understand the fact that any pain and heartache you will fuckig grow. But if you feel sorry for yourself and let it get you, you turn into a self doubting, self sabatoging little bitch!

Suck it the fuck up. Man the fuck up.
