it's gonna be a shitshow for nobodies that became pro streamers once celebs and socialites start streaming in their off time...a few hundred grand a month to play video games and you're already famous so you're guaranteed an audience? that's gonna hurt the pro streamers or the regular joe who might want to generate some revenue streaming. it'll be like what "grill gamurs" did to the platform. just like everything else twitch will die out eventually. the platform is defined by planned obsolescence anyway...it's far less engaging and fun to watch others play games than it is to actually..you know..play them, so once the honeymoon effect of livestreaming games has waned, and people have seen all there ever is to see from the platform..the ninjas, the tyler1s, the dr disrespects...they'll go back to not giving a fuck. the only way twitch will truly stay alive in the long term is if they use their amazon ownership as a way to compete with youtube..which is already happening. we're seeing streamers migrate from solely playing games to IRL streams and other shit. problem is this: the muting of copyright songs and pushing a PC culture (like youtube) will castrate them in the long run. the gold rush of twitch is over.

Nah, in the light of all the shit going around in the world, the Eastern Europe looks like a perfect place. We may have some unique peculiarities and the economy is not as good (though very rapidly growing) but we have literally zero extremist movements and people can express themselves freely (LGBT is not welcomed though) without fearing horrendous repercussions unlike in the western world. I am not the smartest or most talented guy out there but I had very little problem finding a job here, I am debt free (free education ftw) and life looks like an oyster unless political tensions around the globe escalate to some shitstorm. Also women here seem to be less entitled whores compared to what I've heard about US/UK.

The indie scene becoming mainstream pretty much killed women's efforts to take over the video game industry. They can probably force major studios (EA, Ubi, etc...) to become gynocentric, but they can't force the millions of independent developers and thousands of smaller studios to anything. And now a days most of the best selling games on Steam come from indie developers. TLDR; they can't control the industry short of banning indie games altogether, which won't happen in their wildest dreams because even if Valve decided to do so, they would simply move some other distribution platform that doesn't belong to some big corporation, there is a lot of choice out here.

Am I the only one you can't face playing mainstream shooters anymore? I even thought that I would like one again if I just tried it, so I got fallout 4, but then got bored in a couple of days. It's just that, no matter how you dress it up, they boil down to walking around and shooting stuff. There's nothing fundamentally interesting or different about them.
I do like the mechanics of some recent indie games, but then I wish I could have played the same thing that had a decent budget attached to it, so that it would more complete/not in early access indefinitely.

I have felt that about shooters for quite some time now. I'm even getting fed up with 3rd person rpgs. Skyrim was decent but seems way overrated. Fallout is just skyrim with guns and in the future. Zelda botw was great but I'm afraid it means they are going to make a bunch of more open world games that shouldn't be. Final fantasy games have really been downhill since FFX. I WANT them to be turn-based and i don't want the other party members to be controlled by AI. Let me be the game player ffs.
I've never been into Skyrim or FF either, but I like games with a novel premise or surreal atmosphere. My favourite games recently have been The Long Dark, Subnautica, They Are Billions, and 7 Days to Die. 7D2D I have a kind of love-hate relationship with. It could very well be the most flexible game ever, and has massive potential, but the execution isn't always great. The Long Dark is the opposite - it could do with more content/things to do, but the stuff it has is very well implemented.

Video games were around a decade before that. These controversies were around then, too.
Many were in diapers then but I remember somone executing a finishing move in Mortal Kombat on Good Morning America and Charlie Gibson solemnly intoning his vast concern that such could produce youth violence. This was in 95 or 96.
Truth is that video games are mostly a waste of time. As I became more interested in grades and jobs in high school I resolved to no longer play and waste time. I woukd be earning money, not tokens/rings/coins.
