What is the deal with "leftism"?

I subscribe to liberal ideals. As an engineer with some formal sociology training under my belt, I know that lots of problems - crime, mental illness, poverty, etc, are very much probabilistic symptoms of a bad upbringing. There isn't a lot you can point to in a person and say "they brought that upon themselves!". Being poor is a lifestyle, being a criminal is glamourized, good education is limited... Not everyone can just 'man up' and start a successful business on their own, as I've heard on here a lot.

There is a lot we can do to improve all people's contributions to society by first helping them become a better person, and thus avoid the need for permanent welfare (except for the disabled).

That being said, I think you are correct. The political 'left' is corrupted by those who do want a welfare state and who do want their parties and interests to be funded at the expense of others (such as feminists). Just the same as the political 'right' and big business/wall street.

Similarly, both sides want to have control of the moral compass. No abortions! No porn! No men around children! Whatever else goes on.

Both sides in practice have problems. This isn't a problem with leftist ideals, but with those in power who execute them so shittily.

I despise the use of the word "liberal" to describe modern progressivism/socialism. The word liberal comes from the same root as the word liberty, and denotes someone who espouses freedom. Modern "liberals" are vehemently opposed to economic freedom and thus should not be called liberal.

The "left" as used in the US refers to anyone of a socialist or progressivist mentality, i.e. someone who thinks that governments should confiscate wealth from the economically productive members of society to support the unproductive. Leftist ideology maps very closely to feminist ideology, with "class warfare" being a defining motif in their worldview (capitalism oppressing workers / patriarchy oppressing women).

Red Pill thinking rejects class warfare thinking altogether and encourages individuals to maximize the personal utility of individual actions and interactions rather than worrying about how crazy/wrong "society" is.

In today's society, where you come from is a very big indicator of where you're going to end up.

Left wing politics is married to feminist and racial politics to which I strongly disagree. Affirmative action for example. It is based on an assumption that there is no biological differences in aptitude between different groups, which you have echoed. That assumption is false. /r/HBD Yet more and more policies get put into place that will punish white males (and Asians even more so) based on this false assumption. I have personally been screwed by the affirmative action system. I have seen companies waste huge amounts of money to just become more and more inefficient based on these principles. It is ridiculous to have anything but a merit based system. The unfortunate reality is that merit based systems discriminate against people who are less competent, and competency distributions vary between groups.

This particular political policy is likely to be the only one that promises to have a strong and continuing negative impact on my life. Thus, it is the policy I am most concerned about and it is what pushes me away from the left.

B) The political left in the US became closely associated with feminism, civil rights, and political correctness during the 1960s. This alienated many men, whites, and free thinkers.

Personally I lean strongly to the left on economic issues, but I can't stand the political left in the US because their identity politics offer me nothing.

You don't. On top of that, you can't. Even further more, you don't want it.

Why? If you try to do so, you punish those who are working to make a better life for their children. You are punishing behavior that drives society forward and rewarding behavior that retards it.

Liberalism (egalitarianism), the belief in equality, it's an inversion of natural order. And inverting that natural order destroys the competition for advancement that makes civilization work in the first place.

liberalism promotes a vague 'equality'. equality is not reflected in nature at all. individuals are demonstrably better than others at specific tasks and general successful behavior(in all species). denying this is detrimental to a society.

The left and right have both done their fair share to strip men of their rights based on their own agenda. No reason to make this a partisan issue. We just need to fix the problems and move on.

Although, I mostly blame the left though for this problem. At least the right wanted to keep so-called family values, but it was the liberals that were encouraging women to be sluts and to treat men like shit. Just go meet a Southern gal and you'll notice a huge difference in the level of respect.

Also, the so-called elite don't give a fuck either way, so stop trying to blame all of our problems on the rich. The elite don't have some grand scheme to ruin America. Most of them are just regular people like us, but just have a ton more money, which lets them do tons of awesome stuff.

Also, digging your way through the shit to the top and becoming rich is what being alpha is all about. So quit being a beta wage slave and make something of yourself. I'm tired of this bitching and whining about the rich. There is literally nothing stopping you from becoming rich yourself except for your own lack of ambition.

The manosphere is a subset of the broader neo-reactionary/dark enlightenment/alternative-right movement (and PUA/game is itsef a subset of the manosphere, along with MRAs, etc...). Neo-reactionaries have a beef with leftism/progressivism/liberalism which is virtually impossible to explain in a single comment. Try reading "Reactionary Philosophy in an Enormous, Planet-Sized Nutshell" for an introduction to their ideas. Since you espouse economic leftism, you might also want to try "What is Poverty?"

Not being from the states, I can pretty much say that socialism is up there with some of the worst ideas ever. We're not all equal, we never will be and trying to force everyone into the same little box is foolish.

You might think everyone deserves an equal opportunity to succeed but, put simply, that's just not how reality works.

I'm a "leftist" I guess you could say. I believe that the red pill has merit in predicting female behavior in real life, however, this is the consequence of societal structures rather than inherent biological needs.

America has a center in politics between Democrats and Republicans, and the left and right is a way of putting ideas on each side. Left extends as far as communism, and right extends as far as fascism and monarchies, so when people talk about the left, it's sometimes an inference to communism (which yes is very unpopular) even though they're just talking about democrats.

Over the last few decades feminism has been associated with leftism: socialism, marxism, social justice, progressivism, green left, whatever. The further left you went on the spectrum the stronger the support for feminism. Second wave feminism was basically a ripoff of Marxism. Just replace the oppressed worker class with women and the exploitative capitalist class with men. The aim is for a dictatorship of the former and re-education or elimination of the latter.

I don't believe in that fairy tale that everyone who works hard can achieve a happy prosperous life, and think we should as a society level the playing field a little, to give folks a fair shot and proving their value; to me it seems that we'd all be better off for it. Having said that, lots of folks that get sucked into that spiral of failure just stop trying to pull themselves out, and in spite of all that you give, all they do is waste and consume. It seems to me that in a perfect world we'd have mechanisms that allow the unfortunate to pull themselves up without wasting effort on those that don't deserve it. There are bad rich people out there that don't give a shit about society and just want as much for themselves as they can get, but most of them really do try to reinvest in new growth and provide opportunity for others to succeed. I see it as a balancing act, we cant just take their shit or they will stop investing out of spite, but we can't just let them freely exploit everyone without giving something back either. I think if it were up to me, I'd do something like tax breaks contingent on contributions to society, then the greedy folks would be taxed to hell and the benevolent would keep what they earn, that is probably pretty "lefty" sounding I guess.
