It's this shit that made me fight for custody of my Godson, and gave me peace when his mother died. The boyfriend she died with had beaten the shit out of my Godson and her the month before and the court put him back in my custody. The kid isn't dumb he knew after I told him that his mom was dead, that life was going to get better. I'd been caring for him for nearly four years on and off at that point, he knew there was a better life out there away from his mother.

When his mom died, I had taken out a total of $250k on his mom prior to her death because I was a court appointed guardian (I also have an insurance and annuity license). After I got through the red tape (sent letters with my legal letter press) I put $200k in annuities (which I got a commission on up front and a residual commission each based on a percentage of the total value of the annuity), and am taking from a total of $50k to care for him from day-to-day. We just started getting checks for being foster parents back in June which is measly. So it's only because of all of that, that we can care for him without massively altering our lives or being in hardship.

His mom is worth more dead than alive to him, and him and I both know it.

Okay, the boyfriend and mother in this particular situation were horrible but how does this logically translate into the idea that a woman's new boyfriend/partner/fuck buddy is worse than the mother? The mother in this case chose to take this new man into her life. Nor does the article say the new boyfriend took the lead and initiated the punishment for the kids.

Her new boyfriend is not a parent to her children. By definition he cannot be a worse parent.

This incident is 100% her fault. Her hamster is capable of making enough excuses, you do not need to assist it.

If you are a single parent, it is entirely your responsibility to make sure that you those who you associate with are not having a negative influence upon your own kids.

I'm glad the shitty boyfriend of single mom scenario was finally mentioned. If it wasn't a repressed part of my past, I might have mentioned it sooner. My older brother and I had been shooed out of the apartment into the summer heat just so my mom and her physically abusive (to us) boyfriend could screw. My aunt, who had lived in the same apartment complex at the time, found one of us pissing in the bushes.

Case in point, when your father figure is a composite of several low class men (some with anger issues) with dashes of your apathetic father, you have a lot of work cut out for you. Been making the most of it in large part because of TRP, but had survivor chops beforehand.

Really? Forgetting about the boyfriend part (because I have no experience with a step-father) my mother has been my only parent for most of my life. She's cared for me, supported me, and taught me just about every she knows. She's bettered me, helped me when I needed it, and was overall the best parent I could ask for. She did all of this juggling two jobs on minimum wage, just for me and my brother to have a normal childhood. My father? He abused me, my sister, and my step-mom. He burned my step-mom with cigarettes, called me fat, and never payed for child support even though he had a really great tech job that payed shit loads of money. Dude was an ass, he treated my family like trash, gambling his million away as I wondered if I was going to eat at night. While my mother wasnt perfect she still did a way better job than my dad did at parenting. You can't judge a person whether if they have a dick or not, you need to know them first. Those parents in the story are assholes that don't deserve to breath. Judge them you know what they did and why they're shitty parents. This subreddit has done enough to piss me off today, I'm off.
