There is an advantage to becoming mgtow without getting too badly burned HOWEVER it comes with a disadvantage which is uncertainty

The, lets call them "light trauma" mgtows, are in a sort of purgatory-like state. They know relationships are fucked up but most, if not all of their knowledge is anecdotal or observed in others experiences in their lives and not personally visceral. So they will always wonder if they quit the game to soon or didn't put enough effort into relationships.

most of the "one blowjob away" men calling themselves mgtows are these light trauma types who still think at least subconsciously if they played the game they wouldn't get fucked over.

so yes you could have saved yourself alot of bullshit OP but then you would be sitting with a foot on both sides of the field with the fence post lodged firmly up your ass.

your experience sucks but it has removed from you all trace of doubt and uncertainty.

Seriously, what is it you expect us to say.

I'm one of the guys who really never suffered anything remotely like the problems others have; but of course from my perspective I also haven't doused myself with gasoline and struck a match (doesn't mean I never played with fire, literally or metaphorically... I had just seen enough to know that there are ways to do that relatively "safely"... and then there are all of the other ways; why most people choose the latter, I'm not sure, it really doesn't make sense to me either).

As to the how/why... I don't know that it comes down to intelligence -- albeit I distinguish that from ignorance.

I think I was LESS ignorant because I was MORE observant even beginning when I was a kid.

Some of that was doubtless due to attitude and that derived from specific circumstances of birth & location. And by that I don't mean "silver spoon" type things, rather things that were just "different" from even what my own slightly older brother experienced living & growing up in the same house. Different array of and distance from (physical location) friends. Different ages when certain events happened in the world. Or in our extended family: my uncle getting divorce raped & living with us for about 6 months -- my brother was already a teen, I was still a couple of years short of it, among other things that meant my brother was off "doing his thing", where I was stuck in the house and couldn't help but "observe"; as well as getting to know my uncle, playing chess with him, etc and though he wasn't trying to give me an earful, I "caught" a lot of it nonetheless, and so on....

Now not all of it "clicked" or made sense to me at that age (but hell that's true of the kids' viewpoint on a LOT of "adult" behavior); much of the learning/observing was more in the nature of "puzzlement" -- things that DIDN'T "make sense" -- and so were tagged for later investigation, re-consideration & mulling them over once I had more of the proverbial pieces, etc.

I was also a bit precocious in school -- literally advanced a grade and thus classmates with kids who were older than me and so who hit puberty earlier -- that along probably gave me a good year or more of watching shit play out in front of me... Add in having also observed some of my older cousins, and of course my brother (including seeing him engage in all kinds of ridiculous machismo, only to then later essentially emasculate himself for the sake of access to pussy).

In some senses, I almost don't know how -- bar some kind of prefrontal lobotomy (i.e. sticking a spike in my head and literally mushing my brains around to get rid of everything I'd seen and figured out) -- I could have NOT ended up becoming MGTOW. (Decades before anyone came up with that term.)

I only recently discovered it December of last year after taking physical, mental, emotional, and financial abuse from women that were in my family and women that I dated. The last relationship I had was the more physical/mental abuse and she got my entire family to take her side against me to the point that I had to get psychiatric evaluations (to which they found nothing other than what I already knew) and I was labeled "abusive" by my family and ex because I defended myself against her. I thankfully didn't get the police called on me, or else I would have seen a big lawsuit/jail time as well.

I stumbled upon MGTOW by simply searching on the internet about the thoughts I was having, on a basic level. The the more I listened, the more I understood. First it made me angry, then it made me sad, then it made me feel relieved that I know what I want to do with my life, and that I understood about the traps of marriage, relationships, kids, the psychology behind both genders and whatnot. I was going to avoid the trap, but I'd forever live with the "what if" question at the back of my head. That's not an issue anymore.

I've lived like a MGTOW most of my life but now it seems more men are doing what I've been doing sine the 90s and it has a name. I'm 42 and after a few bad relationships of my own and seeing how male friends and family always got shit on getting married/divorced back in my 20s I looked around and tried to figure out what the benefits were to me out of chasing a woman, compromising myself for her and getting married. Seriously party girls, sex workers and substance abuse for a decade was significantly cheaper for me than getting married, having kids and getting divorced like most of my friends did. I'm not rich but I have no debt and no forced financial obligations to anyone else. The economy wasn't kind to me and I was unemployed for too long and am seriously underemployed and I'm living a very frugal lifestyle and I'm still better off than divorced friends who make 3 times more than me working 60 to 80 hours a week, sometimes at two jobs, to pay child support and the interest payments on the debt they accumulated while married.
