I understand your frustration and the answers about "lifting" can only compound it I'd expect.

I suffer from depression and anxiety. I briefly (despite a serious physical handicap and my physician's warnings) went down the lifting road (well 6 months) without improvement to my mood (and mediocre improvement to my "build"); all it achieved was an obsession over maintaining a proper routine and protein intake.

I am not sure 'roids will help you much. I very briefly went down the 'roid road, probably not long enough to know what the benefits would have been but I sure as hell can tell you it didn't improve my mood, fuck no.

It's estrogen that actually affects the mood more than test alone. High e2 and you'll act like a chick / low e2 and you'll have the emotional range of a baseball bat.

General consensus though is to get your sit together before you hop on roids. They don't change your underlying disposition.

I'm a happy guy naturally, and I am a happy guy on steroids. My mom recently was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer (ie death sentence). I had a natural emotional reaction. It sucks, but I didn't take my sadness/anger out on anyone else. Positivity is a choice.

Testosterone gives a god complex like no other drug in the world. That natural feeling of dominance, "alpha" flows intensely through your veins. I have also dealt with depression. But I found that the testosterone made the good parts of my life (sports, lifting, girls, social) so much better that my other issues felt like nothing. My other problems went from "Fuck this is stressing me out, I wanna die etc" to "I fucking got this shit, nobody and nothing can fuck with me if I put my mind to this shit".

Not saying it will do that for you. But you understand what I mean by it enhancing certain things and making quality of life overall feel way better.

I've always had money, never had any real very hard issues in life, life has always been great.

And I fell into a depression about 14 months ago. Just depression for NO REASON WHATSOEVER. I had absolutely nothing to be depressed about.

And I compete in sports, I have a very active lifetyle, I'm tall, great shape, great job. So what the fuck gives?

Vitamin D... Vitamin fucking D. I pretty much got absolutely zero sun many months. Zero.

I got on Vitamin D3 (10,000 UI a day). Self medicated (got the D levels checked after checking my iron... thought I was enemic for some fatigue issues). Got rid of all my depression. I feel like a king again.

I've been on the D3 10k UI per day for about 4-5 months I think. I'm staying on it for life (except for times where I'm in the Sun a lot obviously). That stuff is a mira

u/SamuraiPizzaCatz So get your levels checked man. It just might be that. Make SURE it's the right test. Some doctors will order the wrong test for this. Make SURE it's the "25(OH)D test". Do not accept the "1,25(OH)₂D" test. Print the name of the test out and be sure he gets you the right thing!

As someone who used to dislike lifting and now lifts 5-6 times a week: You have to have a reason to start, a reason to continue, and a reason to push yourself till you're red in the face and sweating buckets. Personally, I started to crosstrain for climbing and continued because I loved the new heights it allowed me to reach, both figuratively and literally. The reason for pushing myself; however, was depression and hatred. I channeled all those fucks I never gave into a torrent of raging energy and pumped iron till my muscles gave out and then some. Did it hurt? Fuck yes. Did I want to quit after squatting till I could barely walk up the stairs? Hell yes. Goal oriented thinking fueled by untempered rage is the key. Do not use steroids. They kill the achievement based mindset and while they improve performance you will find yourself without the mettle to truly bend your body to your will.

Steroids build muscle, which can easily produce confidence. But they have some downsides. Several substances found in supplements designed for athletes have been shown to combat depression.

A lot of depression is from poor diet and lack of excercise.

Get some sunlight, boost your vitamin D, start running, swimming or just using your body to do physical work and get your endorphins released.

If your choices are contemplating suicide or steroids then by all means go for the steriods. When taken in a controlled and regulated manner they can give great results.

It's hard to know if steroids are going to get you out of depression without knowing the details of your case.

I have never done steroids, but I strongly recommend regular exercise to help with depression.

In some serious cases, antidepressants can be helpful for a time, but be aware there are side effects, some potentially serious. I would generally consider these as a short-term solution until you can get longer-term solutions in place.

Objective answer:

-It is not the cure for depression;
-Regardless of all variables, overall, it'll improve your life;
-There are some things to take great care while on it, some of it are: blood pressure, hair, prostate, estrogen, fertility issues, your balls, and your temper;
-It changes you mentally and physically. The bigger the time on it, the bigger the change.

If you hate lifting I can almost guarantee you have low energy. SLEEP 8-9 Hours - EAT A LOT - Lots of eggs, meat, fish, veg - Carbs like Potatoes and sweet potatoes / rice. Then lift. Eating and sleeping will give steroid like results - You hate the gym because every workout is overtraining - Make SURE to have a good protein shake straight after the workout - I use Milk, heavy cream and 2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition - Sleep in a SUPER DARK ROOM - Dont dring before bed so you don't have to get up - When you start feeling the pump and feeling anabolic during the day you will start to love it I promise - also don't do roids - It will Fuck you up if you don't know what you're doing and when you come off it depression will insue - good luck

It helps with low testosterone, it's a natural hormone not some kind of opiate or SSRI. Stop making it out to be a bigger deal than it is and just try it, 250mg/week or something like that. If it helps then great, if you don't feel different then stop using it and you'll be back to normal within a month. Most likely you will just gain a bit of muscle and have a higher sex drive and that's it.
