Find a sport or hobby. There are amazing things to do out there. Like riding sport bikes on a track, poker/chess, brewing, restoring cars/bikes.

Or better, go help disabled people. That fixes up your head and gives you purpose. Like reading books or sorting little things for them, or helping with homework from school or uni.

Turn off the TV, there's an amazing world out there.

I love to workout, dress well, take care of myself. Why not look and feel good? I'm doing it for me, and doing it so the women can never get a man they want, and it drives them absolutely insane!

I play bass, play in a band, and enjoy playing and learning new songs, riffs, and write lyrics. One day, hopefully play in LA if we make it there.

Doing something, just because others like what you do, shouldn't stop you from whatever you want to do. If you enjoy working out, being healthy, and looking good, do it!

So there I was, walking through a cold, pouring rain after a job interview... Homeless, poor, alone, and a grin a mile wide.

I was going "under cover" - reintegrating myself into society.

I had found a goal for myself after extreme poverty and isolation. I may never see the end of my goal, but that is not the satisfaction; the satisfaction is in "imagining Sisyphus smiling" so to speak. In other words, I'm happy to suffer for my goal.

I have a career and it's corporate (a biotech that shall remain unnamed). The worst part is the ease and indulgent nature of it... I'm not used to having so much money, nor so much comfort, and I dislike it. It is too decadent, and there is "peer pressure" to settle down and shit. My coworkers spend a lot of what they make, while I focus on investing into myself and my business/future. My boss works insane hours to keep his wife and kids rich.

I pretend to be blue pill because there are a number of women around.

I pretend to be meek, and keep my struggles secret.

I'm on a mission and I won't let petty things get in my way.

How do I motivate myself? With what? Why?

It is the abyss. Don't look away. Don't run from your suffering, such as loneliness. Become friends with the darkness and cold.

My goal is to run an experiment which is inconsequential to you and your motivation. I found my purpose after communing with death and accepting my ultimate fate. It is individual. You find your own end or "pur-pose". Etymology and philosophy helped me, though, and they might help you find your end-state.

Slow down to reflect on your motives. Isolate yourself to find your unique identity, independent of the motives of others... Then, when you find it, you can come back with your very own motivation, beyond societial expectations.

Listen to your inner thoughts, even if you find an abyss. Invent.

I think a lot of us have gone through this, I know I did. What you need to do is find something to replace that punani you were chasing. It's not easy and often when you've lived your whole life thinking relationships and/or pussy was the end goal it can leave you feeling lost.

Take some time to try and figure out what you want to pursue in life and remember it doesn't have to be grand, in fact I'd suggest starting off small. I focused on creating smaller goals to get out of that initial rut and although I still have times where I feel unmotivated, I am doing a lot more day to day and enjoying life now more than ever before.

I'm in my mid thirties, recently out of a relationship. I've worked out for over 20 years.

I do it partly out of habit, partly because I've grown to enjoy it. Before I blew out my knee I used to love running races. We had a group that used to race each other for all the local 5ks.. Actually almost became a passion for me.

I like the possibility of still being able to get laid if I want to also. I may have no interest in marriage, but where I live about half the girls seem almost worth dating (conservative state).

One of the hardest things to own is realizing we were programmed since we were able to crawl to seek validation and acceptance from others, especially women.

Realizing a lot of that motivation and activity we engaged in was mis-directed and makes for a "holy shit" sobering realization that sometimes leaves us feeling lost, which I suspect is where your at right now.

As trite and simplistic as it sounds, we can learn to seek and obtain acceptance and validation FROM OURSELVES, which I suspect is what we men should have been doing all along. This starts with questioning ourselves from within, which we may have rarely, if ever, engaged in--in the past. We can start asking ourselves, "what do I REALLY like," "what gets me excited," "what do I want?"

I believe every man needs a solid life-plan, with realistic goals and measurable landmarks of achievement to keep things rolling along...

IMO, the main thing is to sit down and get it down on paper, like a visual timeline and then OWN IT.

Once I turned inward, asked myself those critical questions, started developing my own plan for myself and started moving forward, I realized--even though I have a couple really tight friends and a loving family--I was becoming my own best friend...something I had never experienced before.

Solitude, now, is like a healing, enriching experience for me that I look forward to rather than fear. Interestingly, being a "man with a plan" has actually made me more intriguing to women, although I am very selective and rarely engage them these days.

I calculate goals and resources needed for goals and critical need for those goals based on how bad life will be without them.

Then I follow the calculations.

Try going on a few dates. Amazing how sweet your "empty" life seems when you suddenly have someone texting you or trying to make arrangements to do stuff and spend money. I went straight from work to the shops, spend money on myself, got a good meal for dinner, then went home and watched movies and had a few beers. No wasted time deciding where to eat, what to buy, what to watch. I think that's the thing I've noticed, is that shit that takes forever when you're dealing with someone else is really quick when you're only having to consider your own wants. Just dive into your interests. Buy records, read more books, go to more sports games, hang out with your mates more. Wander round a hobby store and realise that you can do anything that takes your fancy, right now. Failing all that, rescue a dog. Get two. Pets are amazing

There is very little passion today. Modern people do not believe in souls, they believe in selves. The Self can never be satisfied and has an infinite appetite. Using a measuring stick of American politicians, one can go back fifty years and more to hear passionate (i.e. speaking of the soul) speeches from politicians of either party. Even though politicians like Truman were not orators, they were manly. The lack of passion breeds androgyny. I have never met a man who didn't have some sort of passion within him. Often, it is passion that makes tha man (and woman) rather than these poorly emulated androgynous men and women of today. There is no 'passion' behind a woman's (or man's) adultery these days. There are no more Romeo and Juliets. Most of Shakespeare, built around and on passion, sounds wordy and irrelevant to moderns. The monologues speaking of heaven and earth or characters agonizing over their effects unleashing hell upon nature cannot be heard by moderns

I went through this myself. I found that you should not try to fight it. Yes my motivations may be silly and degrading but do to my biology being in the top 20 percent and being fit makes me happy. I know it's really just my brain trying to increase my smv to get women but fuck it. I'll use the little brain when it's useful and the big brain to prevent mistakes
