Sex to me is a health and safety issue, so I refuse to have sex unless I'm in a long-term relationship with a man who cares about my health and well-being. I was ridiculed throughout college for this stance, so I only had a handful of first dates. My immigrant parents also taught me that I had to be successful in order to "qualify" for a boyfriend because it is important to contribute to a partnership and not be a freeloader. So I spent my 20's working 2 jobs (in pink ghettos, unfortunately) and breaking up my parents' fights with what little time I had left. I flirted, I tried; no bites. Zero dates. And I never did online dating because I insisted on getting dates the hard way - in real life! Once a year, there'd be this one guy who initiates flirting with me, and then runs away when I reciprocate. I put that guy on my pedestal. If women supposedly have all this power, I must have misplaced mine. Should I try to find it? If it's located between my legs, I don't want to use it. I find that dishonorable.
