Also make a blog. For like 5 dollars a month you can have your own personal wordpress site.

Board games. Not simple stuff like Monopoly or Sorry or something, but advanced strategy games like Twilight Imperium, Game of Thrones or the more involved variants of Risk (Legacy, Godstorm, etc). They're a great mental challenge and a blast to play, especially if you have a good group of skilled players and/or enthusiastic new players. Awesome social activity and generally more of a thing for guys (the Twilight Imperium group I'm in has never had a female member that stuck with it more than one game).
Jigsaw puzzles. Again, good for a mental challenge and you can adjust the difficulty to your skill set at any time with more complex and/or larger puzzles.
Learning a new language. You don't have to be gung-ho about it, just a little each day and it's another good mental challenge. I've been using Duolingo to learn Spanish for about 10 months now and it's a very good (and free!) program.

Archery; go to a range, rent a bow and some arrows and work on the perfect bow shot. Bow shooting is awesome

Low-cost non-physical activities. There may be some repeats of what others have mentioned, so just consider it as me "seconding" it:

Reading. Whether reading just fiction novels or something to expand your knowledge.
Writing. I don't know what kind of writing skills you have, but either some type of blogging, fanfic, or stories.
Learning new skills is always a good investment in yourself. Learn a foreign language, programming, or how to play a musical instrument. How are your cooking skills? Learn more advanced cooking. This could even save money if you reduce eating at restaurants.
Tabletop games. Go to boardgamegeek.com and explore. Games for every taste, you can even search by specific game attributes.
RC vehicles. I don't know what you consider low-cost, but a modest one-time cost can get you a decent car, boat, or quadricopter depending on what interests you.
Shoot pool, or some other game of skill, and get good at it.
Volunteer your time. Give to a cause that you personally believe in.
Start watching a new Series on Netflix. There is tons of content out there.
If you aren't good at handiwork, try different types and learn it. If you are avoiding it because you aren't actually interested, don't bother with it and move on. If you are interested, see it as a challenge and start simple. Different crafts use different skills: you might not be good at (or like) woodworking, but might find another craft that you do like.
Video games. Ridiculously cheap and runs the gamut from solo experience to MMO. You can play competitively or just kick around with a few friends. Even if you've burned out on them previously, give it another shot with a different style of game. There are so many types to choose from.
Drawing or painting. Fuck it if you aren't good at it, it doesn't matter as long as you are having fun

I have a collector's mentality; I like completing lists. So I might combine your enjoyment of visiting different sites with completing various lists of them: museums, Civil War battlefields, pizza joints, bars, getting off on every stop of the Metro to see what's there, and so on. Then combine it with a blog and do a short write up for each location.

You can do the same with books.

Or become a rated master/expert at chess/Go/Scrabble (check out the book Word Freak about competitive Scrabble).

Learn how to do home improvement: Home Depot teaches classes on the weekends. I recently upgraded all my faucets to better quality ones. Some other useful skills would be how to repair drywall, install toilets, installing tile in a kitchen or bathroom, how to rip up carpet and install wood flooring. Make your home the best it can be.

Downside: police hate you. Upside: It's relatively cheap, good for your health, and there's no limit to where you can go!

Plus, it beats the typical 9-5.

Especially when the economy's shit.

Not being handy at all is a hole in your MGTOW game, IMO. Start small - buy a small cheap used motorcycle like a Ninja 250 or 500cc cruiser and scour the interwebs to learn everything there is to know about it. Start with basic tool set and add to it as needed for various maintenance/repair jobs on the bike. A 250cc bike typically gets 75mpg so you could potentially pay for the bike in fuel savings if you do alot of driving. Now start doing basic maintenance on your car. There's a Youtube video showing exactly how to do almost any common repair on pretty much any model of car. No matter what issue symptoms your car has, you're not the first to have it so Google will likely point you to a fix. There is some startup cost associated with this but in the long run it will actually save you tons of money. Doing front ball joints on my truck myself saves me $900. That's alot of tools paid for. Just think to yourself, how long would you have to work to generate $900 of disposable income? Several times each year I'm able to save $500+ by doing something myself - that adds up to real money and maybe you get to go on two trips a year...

Read...preferably non-fiction. Almost no matter your interests, there are a plethora of good books on the subject. You can learn shit anything from astronomy to urban planning to Somali history. Just start reading. I personally am on my seventh book on seven days (but I'm a power reader).
