Sometimes when I work at a new vacation job, or when I have a new class in college, or meet a new group of people, some of them ask me if I have a girlfriend. "No, I'm single" I answer most of the time. They ask me why I haven't found a girlfriend yet. "I don't have time for relationships, and I'm focusing on other things". Many of them don't seem satisfied with my answer. "But you 'have' to make time for relationships. It can do you so much good! You'll be happier, and you won't be so lonely". At the last sentence, they say it with a sad voice tone, and look at me with sad eyes, supposedly feeling bad for me, and thinking I'm somehow lonely by being single. At that point, I try to change the subject, or tell them I don't want to continue talking about it. It's both males and females. But the females are much more persistent and trying to really push me to have a relationship with any girl.

But seriously? They asked me a question, and I gave them an honest answer. I explicitly let them know that I don't have time for relationships, and I have other things to focus on. They're not close to me and I barely know them. Which decisions I make in life is really none of their business. I find it very rude and insulting to be that persistent, while I didn't ask for any advice or suggestion. I could ask them things like, "When did you take a shit last time?", "How many times do you fuck your partner?", "When was the last time you saw a family member naked?". I could ask them these questions, and be persistent about it. "Ew, that's none of your business!" They would say. But it's somehow ok to try and push me into a relationship? What if I don't want to? Then what? They somehow think that they know better than me what I want. What do you think about it? Let me know, and thx!
