In pop culture abortions are increasingly portrayed as "no big deal" and commonplace. The woman has the abortion and then moves on quickly.

It's not really seen in pop culture but in online arguments about abortion rights. You don't really see women act like that in real life when they have an abortion, nor is it really portrayed in pop culture.

Not all women want children.

I know a handful of women who have had abortions. One of them regrets it, she has two kids.

I've never met a woman who didn't want to have kids who regret having an abortion. If you deeply want kids and don't end up having that option then you probably have some regrets. Abortion might be one of them.

Do they regret their abortion? It seems like they would, especially if they end up with no actual kids.

Some do, some don't. From what I've heard, the ones who "regret" it are poster children for the religious groups, much like "former atheists" and everyone else doesn't regret anything because they didn't want children, or couldn't support them when they got pregnant in the first place.

Medical abortion has been found to have no increase in risk on future pregnancy, and surgical abortion (the one you're probably thinking of) can in some cases cause Asherman syndrome which can cause difficulties in future pregnancies.
