It may be just a projection of your own insecurities. It may be that they are a cliquey judgey bunch of bitches. In what way do they treat you with disgust?

Not long ago I sat in a salon waiting room with a bunch of these women, mid treatment most of them. With goo on their faces, bright pink scrubbed faces, eye brows and lashes being dyed and you know... nothing puts women more on a level with each other. All of you sat there looking an absolute state that would frighten small children.

if i were you, i would start by finding little things to compliment them on. "hey i really love your hair today, looks super cute" "what mascara do you use? your lashes look BOMB" "that color looks really nice on you"

i'm willing to bet that they think you judge them for not being as conservative. i'm willing to bet if you start complimenting little things, you'll start to see them open up. you'll surprise yourself with the common ground you'll find.

You are right, most of women are friends with women who are and often look like themselves. Groups of female friends are often groups of look-alikes when it comes to style and hobbies. No particular advice, stop overthiking, be friendly and that's it.

Friction is a phenomena that occurs when there is movement between two materials.

By this I mean that you are a part of this whole thing, too. And that is hard to remember sometimes. We tend as RPW toward building up our selves and our values in a way that can frequently rub against other parts of society and cause friction. I can only say that there tend to be two general kinds of options. First is to simply remove the chance for friction—i.e. to some degree stop spending time with folks who have contrary life values than you do. Second is more work, but to look at yourself (the only one you can control) and adjust your own person to cause less friction.

Now, that doesn't mean you become like them or anything like that. It simply means that there is some mechanism of comparison going on that gets your hamster running. Maybe they really are looking down their nose at you. But maybe it is more complicated. Maybe there is jealousy involved; or on the other side, perhaps you hold a kind of learned or inherent distrust toward the type of women described here.

And all of this can sound harsh, so I want to be clear that it isn't at all about applying blame or dwelling on a past, but about interrogating yourself to try to find solutions before going with that first general option above and just cutting off contact. I presented some extremes to hopefully demonstrate that this likely comes down to a comparison (followed quickly by a judgement) which spins you out, puts you on the wrong foot and breeds a sort of quiet resentment as your hamster gets sprinting at breakneck speed.

Sometimes you just don't have much in common with someone else upon which to build a decent relationship. So you do your best to not allow it to effect you.

Don't be insecure because you dress like this and refuse to show off your naked body! You can be confident in the way you dress because it shows you value yourself and your body.

There's no need to feel bad around women who don't, but you shouldn't look down on them in turn. It's much more classy and ladylike to be confident without being arrogant.

Strut your stuff. Treat everywhere as a runway and GO for it. Own it. Dont devalue your conservative wardrobe because theres nothing wrong with you choice of fashion expression, and dont change for others. SHOW them how confident you are, and they will be feeling the jealousy.
