Don’t quit your job off of one month’s success. Wait like 3-4 to see if the business is realistically sustainable. Also I don’t know what country you live in, but if he is American those are probably revenue numbers right? Has he taken out for taxes yet?

You say you have a good job. Don’t leave that job just because your husband is having some new success

Is there anyway you could take unpaid leave from your work to trial this? Or go part time? It’s hard to make a decision when your entering the unknown so this might make your choice easier.

Is staying home something you want? Why throw away the career you built?

If you enjoy your work and are successful at it I don’t see why you’d want to stop.

I would think about the answers to the following questions:

How does this impact our health care/insurance situation? Without insurance, many families are only one accident or injury away from bankruptcy.
How does this impact my retirement savings or pension plan?
If I continue to work for the time being, does that mean we could both retire sooner?
What happens if I need to go back to work later? Am I destroying my future earning potential?
What happens if we lose everything tomorrow in a fire? Do we have the right combination of liquid assets and investments to sustain us for 1 year until we can get back on our feet?
What would I do in lieu of working? How much time does homemaking require each week? What amount of time would I need to fill?
What do I need to have a sense of purpose? Does that entail having a career? Volunteering?
Why is my husband asking me to quit my job? Is this his way of asking for help with the business? Is it because that's what he thinks I want?
How will my husband feel and what about our relationship will change if I turn down his offer?
What do I want to do?

My husband and I have taken the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) approach to finances. He is a little older than me, and has already reached his FIRE date. He is currently transitioning into his "retirement." But, knowing that we could both easily live another 60 years, I intend to stay in the workforce as long as I am happy, so that I continue to provide us with very low cost, high quality health insurance, life insurance policies, access to a growing pension plan and employer funded retirement accounts, and additional income.

I love my work, and am thrilled that I get to go every day. My husband on the other hand, is aiming towards self employment, which is only possible because he technically doesn't need to bring in any additional income.

So for us, the equation that led me to stay in the workforce looked like this: - More money makes the daily tasks of life easier. We can still pay for our gardener, house cleaner, and doggy daycare no problem. We can afford nice vacations, new cars, and dinners out. Those are luxuries that we don't need, but that we greatly enjoy having. - Having access to affordable, high quality healthcare is worth its weight in gold. - If I keep working now, we can both be permanently retired (aka focusing on a passion based small business, without caring how much it brings in) by the time I am 35 and my husband is 40. - If we decide to have children (unlikely) we will both get to stay home with them, which is ideal.
- I love my job and look forward to going in every day, the only con is that I wish I could work from 12-8 instead of 8-4 haha

Come back after January and let us know how it’s going since it’s winter With loads of snow and no one needs anything power washed and it’s too cold to seal coat.

Suppose, hypothetically, that I own a law firm in a niche practice area, with a lot less vulnerability to competition than powerwashing. I don't know how volatile these businesses are but I know legal practice areas can go up and down depending on the economy and it's important to be prepared for some dry spells. I also know that these good and bad periods tend to last for years, not months. What are your savings and investments like? Do you have enough money in the bank you could live for a year if something went wrong?

Also, you didn't say if you want kids but if you do, you might as well start now and take an extended maternity leave. That way you still get paid for a while and it's easier to get your job back if you need it.

I would say don't give up your career just yet. You two should take some time and see how well his business does for a long period of time. Then decide if you all can really afford it in the long run.
