- A clearly defined set of morals:
He clearly expresses a sense of right and wrong, of his own accord and his morals seem well adjusted. I. E. "I don't believe there's ever a good reason to cheat on someone" Or "a person should never hit another person unless they're trying to protect themself or others". I want to be clear that this must be something he expresses by himself, not a thing you say that he just agrees with. Men will agree with anything if they want to fool you. He has a sense of identity when it comes to morals, thing that he feels he would never do, as a decent person.
People that lack this will never express their own opinions of right and wrong, or go back and forth on what's right and what's wrong. They also tend to have murky judgements on your right to consent. Lacking set morals is a sign of enormous mental immaturity or mental incompetency. Men that lack clearly defined right and wrong, are this way because they want to make the rules up as they go, and dismiss every choice they make no matter how wrong, as justified. ("I had to cheat on you! You wouldnt sleep with me!") A man that has solid morals from the start is less likely to surprise you with selfish and cruel behavior, and at least if he does, he already knows he fucked up!
- An ability to take criticism:
He knows when he's at fault and he accepts blame! He's open to your opinion even when it's less than positive. He listens even when you're angry! This is a man that understand he is not perfect. He doesnt just agree when you accuse him of doing something wrong, but takes it to heart and is able to think about it and express his own thoughts on perhaps why he behaves in flawed ways. He doesn't make excuses, he doesnt cry and make a huge fuss and guilt trip you, and he doesn't sulk or deny it when you're right. If you are truly wrong he can explain why you're wrong in a believable way.
People that are unable to take criticism will sulk or act bitter when you say the slightest of things. He might be silent all night with his nose turned up at you because you pointed out his shoe is untied. Maybe he just argues childishly with your opinion every chance he can get because he always wants to be right. Or maybe he cries every time he's called out on bad behavior and acts as if he is some kind of poor victim of a heinous crime. Either way, he can't handle any criticism any you're clearly just wrong for thinking he isnt a perfect being! Men like this are adjusted to being babied to the point that they have an enormous and yet very delicate ego. They don't understand that criticism is the first step to improvement. They just want to spoiled and treated like a perfect angel their whole lives. The issue is no one is perfect, and he needs to be prepared for you to disagree with him on occasion
- A capacity to change and grow:
So let's say he does agree with you. You're right he does have flaws. But does he do something about it? Does he correct the problem or does he go on doing the same flawed things, over and over again? You need someone that can grow and mature with you, but sadly many many men never outgrow their teenage years of development and some of them never will. If he's truly emotionally mature you will see changes over time. He'll have goals in life, and he'll go out and do them.
If he never improves, whether that's his career, his environment, or his internal self, he is immature.
If he can do all these things, you've truly found yourself a HVM. A man that knows right from wrong, and doesn't every cross the lines he's drawn for himself. A man that understand he is imperfect. And a man that will fix issues with you, when you discover them. Sadly, these are not easy to spot qualities. They can take months or years to identify. Try asking the right questions, about his goals, his personal beliefs, and what he wishes he could better in himself to get a picture. And then take your time observing if he is who he says he is. Have fun ladies 💋
