This usually applies to being catcalled or touched or hit on while you're with your partner. I don't really know, it obviously depends on the situation and how bad the asshole is acting. I would want him to be confident enough and stern when defending me. Although, I wouldn't want anyone who's violent throwing punches at any guy who looks at me at the club. That draws too much attention and I would be worried for both our safety.

I'm not saying that every women needs a man to "defend her honor" but as someone with social anxiety (and working on it) I would appreciate that quality in a partner.
