Guess what? They pass on those same SHITE behaviors and attitudes. I saw it first hand today. I serve/bartend on the weekend because making money > spending money.

I was serving a large multi family party and this was some of bullshit entitlement nonsense I had to endure from the men, and the men only. - Teenaged boys huffing and puffing that the sides cost extra. (Right, because how DARE a restaurant charge for extra products.. the audacity) - Both a ‘grown’ man and his son throwing a fit because we don’t have pancakes on the menu. - Another ‘grown’ man whining that we only have sugar in the raw packets, not white sugar packets. He then proceeds to trash every dish that came to the table. - This same man told his wife she didn’t need a box for her soup she never finished, but wanted to take. (I boxed it up for her anyway because I ain’t no soup nazi. Guess what was accidentally left) - Not a single one of them waited for the rest of the food to arrive before they started eating. (I never heard ‘No it’s okay go ahead’)

And my absolute favorite: - Not a single one of those males said “thank you”. NOT. ONE. Not the fathers, not the sons.

Before you light me on fire, let me clarify: at no point during this did I let it affect my level of service. The women were extremely polite and gracious (and actually said thank you!) and for that reason alone I still had a proactive approach to serving rather than reactive.

Ladies, lurkers, and everything in between: these LV behaviors and attitudes are learned from the father. They see it and think it’s okay. Spoiler alert, it’s not. They behaved that way in public with zero shame. No, it might not be disruptive behavior but it’s still rude AF. When the women tried to ‘lead by example’ it failed spectacularly. They’ve been enabling it for years because they thought they could change it. Nah, sis, you’re not changing the stripes on those tigers.

One of the most consistent pieces of advice is to observe how he treats waitstaff because it’s a good indicator of how he will treat you. If you feel like you have to over exert being kind to make up for his lack of tact, box your food up and go because it won’t get any better.

Fun bonus stories! One of the husbands gave his wife a card to pay (he wasn’t there) and the card got declined. Thrice. I honest to god could not have asked for a more appropriate ending because that shit was par for the course. The other checks? All of the women paid, with one of the husbands saying “That goes to her, she pays alllllllll of the bills.” (guess you didn’t see that one coming) LOL okay scrub.
