I (23F) was dating a guy (24M) for a month after couple of months of non-stopping texting and dating.

From the beginning he seemed like a genuine guy, we’d talk for hours, I’d met his mom, some of his friend and I was staying at his house maximum 4 times a week. I had a toothbrush there!

It was nice, we had a understanding that sometimes we’re busy so can’t reply straight away or if I’m with my friends I’m not on my phone but I’ll text later.

Then his energy changed and I sensed he was gonna end it which he did - he’s leaving the country for 6 months soon and doesn’t want the long distance to ruin our relationship or hurt either one of us’ feelings, he wanted to end it and remain friends.

Which I was bummed about, I won’t lie. He was the first guy I’d really invested in since the end of a 4 year relationship so I was really putting myself into this. But I said yes, we’ll remain friends because this wasn’t ending on bad terms and I liked him as a person, just because it didn’t work out why would I cut him off?

It’s been a week now and we’re still talking everyday - no cute pet names or flirting. I’m just wondering am I being a fool? I know he isn’t obliged to reply to me but when he doesn’t for a while, I get anxious and scared incase he’s ghosted me? Which is weird because I never did when we were together.

Should I just cap the interaction now and wait until I’m fully over it to be his friend (I don’t have a problem being friends with exes, so that doesn’t seem weird to me) or am I just being silly and secretly waiting to see if he’ll change his mind (which I know he won’t)?

TL:DR - dated a great guy for a while, timing is crap as he’s leaving for 6 months so has called quits but wants to remain friends. Should I just cut all interaction?
