It’s totally up to the woman to set the pace in the beginning. If left to men they would go too far too fast. Take a good 5 hours to respond to his next message and say you were busy. Don’t follow him off a cliff.

If it feels tedious, he's not a good communicator. Something about the way he's either dumping or taking is draining you. Pleasant conversations are reciprocal, nourishing and validating, where you both feel like you can speak freely and will be heard. He won't be good LTR material.

I am slowly increasing response time, and replying with shorter messages. He texts paragraphs at a time. I am admittedly new to this, (divorced for a little over 2 years, with a one year relationship after) and I really appreciate this sub.

To me, texting is for setting up dates. He can check up on me to tell me to have a good day, or whatever, during the day, but I’m not opt to have long-winded conversations over text. If you’re talking that much I imagine you’re destroying a lot of the mystery surrounding yourself. Women want romance and men want intrigue. Make sure this doesn’t translate into seeing him frequently for dates.

A bit of awkward texting seems fine, but if you are genuinely not interested in talking to him, I don't see how this would be much better in person. I've only ever been attracted to men that were engaging / funny in writing.
