This is sometimes brought up on this sub as though it is a goal. But what is there in it for a woman? I understand that with marriage there comes a certain guarantee that if things were to go south, you'd more or less split your wealth and possessions evenly. But that also applies to couples in informal marriage/cohabitation/common law/de facto relationships and whether that's an advantage at all is debatable.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Practically speaking, what are the advantages of getting married for women?
