Only reach out if you actually want to send condolences and aren't just trying to weasel back into her life or start talking to her again.

My ex's Dad died 6-7 months after we broke up. I was pretty close to her family during our relationship and we ended on good terms so I texted her and even went to the funeral. I didn't do that shit to try to bang her again or talk to her again I did it because he was a good guy who always treated me well despite being an outsider (I'm white and her entire family is hispanic) and even told his extended family to fuck off when they were giving me shit at a family gathering.

If I were you I'd send a short concise text just expressing your condolences, but only if you don't have ulterior motives.

You are not programmed to be a robot. If she helped you, it's only natural if you try to do the same. Being a good human being isn't against TRP guidelines.

Send her a short, but proper text. Nothing more, nothing less. She'll be in a bad mental state and unless you were still emotionally close, I wouldn't risk having her confuse any emotions she has at the moment.

And when her dad/mom/uncle/aunt/sister/brother die don't forget to reach out over the years. Oneitis is a bitch and will sneak up on you with triggers like quiting a drug. Or just be nice and say sorry for your loss and ghost again. No pun intended.

It honestly doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t do it just because I don’t see the point in stuff like that. She helped you through the loss of your relative because she was your girlfriend at the time. If you hadn’t been her boyfriend she wouldn’t have thought twice about you. She’s not your girlfriend, so why? When a girl leaves, she gives up her right to have me in her life. I’m not some emotional emergency kit that can be called upon any time some big tragedy happens. We’re done.

With that said, it’s been a year man. She didn’t even contact you after 6 months. Does keeping no contact matter that much. She’s more than likely gone bro. Who cares if you speak to her every now and then. She’s not your girlfriend and 99.9% chance she won’t be again so who cares.

You’re overthinking it and you need to get over your girlfriend who you broke up a year ago.

Just hit her up with a call or text saying "hey yo, my condolences.". That's enough. Don't go overboard or don't do it if its just an excuse to talk to her.

You don't owe her nothing, but if you want to be a "good" person, you could be there for her. I know the date of a traumatic event for my ex, and even though I don't owe her anything, I will probably just ask her how shes doing or some bs to be nice.

Any time a guy does this it is always seen as a desperate attempt to talk to an ex. Because it is. Dont embarrass yourself and just keep the no contact going. Shes your ex. Not a friend.
